Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

goes the clock, we laughed at fate and mourned her, tick tock goes the clock even for the monster

There are just some places where you know, you don’t belong. Here in these swamp lands she felt somewhat out of place. She was used to the thick dark green forest, the tall timber trees, the deep barren valley, and the treacherous mountain ridges. She thrived in those cold rough terrains. Living in harsh conditions was her specialty. She craved those lonely nights cold nights, finding nothing but joy to outwit Mother Nature, to take charge of everything she threw at her. Living in those lands was brought her a sense of comfort in the chaos. Walking through a swamp gave her no such pleasure. It wasn’t because the stench of the rotting…whatever it was, was blinding her. It was not the difficulty of keeping herself afloat and not being submerged into the watery sticky ground. It did not bother her that she would have to occasionally get her soft ebony coat caked with swamp gunk. This environment seemed like such an effort, an effort that she did not wish to give. Being here even longer simply confirmed her thoughts about this place- it was not for her.

In fact her little meal wasn’t exactly what she wanted to have tonight. Bird. Bird wasn’t a very tasty treat, but this particular swamp fowl had been bothering her for the last few treks. While she was searching the swamp lands getting a feel about the place, she had been stalked by this creature with feathers, feathers that was caked with marsh stuff, it was hard to tell just want color the feathers were. Anyways, this annoying creature kept squawking when she would move, its loud screech was ruining this quiet night. So, to put an end to her misery a life needed to be taken and an easy meal was received. Besides, how could she pass up dinner when it was nearby? After all, a fresh slab of meat on her bones was exactly what she needed. Well, at least she would be happy if it wasn’t for the stranger that came by. She was not a friendly creature to meet. The low growl that was settled in the back of her throat only increased with her sensitive irritation.

“What do you want?”

She turned her ebony crown to the side in the direction that the male lupine had come from. Her half-eaten ear would snap back against her skull, while the left ear remained pointed forward, giving a sign of annoyance rather than just full anger. If she really was angry, he would be running away with his tail between his legs- if he was lucky. Indigo eyes with amethyst flecks narrowed slightly as he inched forward. Pointing her muzzle down digging into the now featherless bird, taking every bit of meat that she could. The murky shredded feathers were littered all around her tumbled on the soft mushy ground. Sure, she could be cordial and not eat her meal in front of him, hell she could have even invited him to partake in his fowl, but sadly she was not one that was willing to share. Even though she was a stickler for manners…for now that was carelessly tossed aside. After taking a few bites here and there, she brought her head up and looked down at him, from her little rock perch. Cold eyes studied him carefully as she wondered, just why in the world would he bother her.
