Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The grey and white wolf walked down the riverbank, the long grasses whispering against his paws as he walked, a warm summer breeze blowing through the trees. The late afternoon sun shone down upon the river and the lands surrounding it. The blue-eyed youth paused, looking around, his body taught and nervous. He had continued further into the lands after the chaotic meeting at the crags, but he was on edge now. Nord had never been good with socialising and he really didn't want that to happen to him again. His ears strained to catch any sound of another, but it appeared to be quiet for now. He didn't want to act rude... but sometimes, he didn't know what to do when faced with a situation such as that. Nord sighed to himself, walking forward a few steps down the riverbank to soak his tired paws in the water.

He had been walking for quite some time, and it was far more than he was used to. He had walked all the way here and then even was exploring the lands. Despite his rather uncomfortable encounter Nord was beginning to like this place. The young wolf remembered the path he had taken to get here quite well but he doubted that he would ever return to his mentor. It saddened him some, the old wolf had been like family. But it was time to move on. Despite his nervous, almost paranoid nature, Nord took change well. Not to say he wouldn't miss his mentor, or that he didn't miss his late family and pack when they had lived up on the mountain, but he had always been a trooper. And besides... the avalanche had been a long time ago. A year, which was a long time for having only lived two.

Nord's blue eyes looked down at the water moving slowly around his legs, and he bent down to take a sip of the refreshing river water. The river was a slow thing, meandering through the land like molasses, but it was pretty all the same. It was the first big river he had ever seen- up in the mountains and in the foothills there were but little streams of water snaking through the terrain. It was like comparing a dragon to a lizard. He let the water wet his dark grey paws for a while longer, trying to force his rigid body to relax, but it was hardly any use. He had been uptight ever since coming here.

The youth wanted to make a life for himself, find his own way in the world... but he couldn't do that if he was so afraid of everyone else. Nord enjoyed the company of himself. He let out another sigh, turning around and heading up the bank again, sitting near a tree in the tall grass. If someone were to come along... he would talk to them. He would have to. Though he tripped over his words and stuttered and couldn't interact with someone else to save his life he would talk to them. Maybe he could make a friend. "Or maybe they'll just think I'm weird." he murmured bitterly under his breath, looking down at his wet paws. He would just wait and see.
