As Danny's knock was met by the strangest assortment of noises, Danny, Sol, and General traded nervous glances. Had they somehow interrupted... ? Danny couldn't quite finish that thought, unable to picture a series of events that would cause such sounds. When the door shook the first time, both boy and tiger stepped to the side. Had it been just Danny and Sol, and had they not had such important business, the two would have probably turned tail and run with the not-so-honest agreement to return at a later, more appropriate time. But General was hurt, and Danny didn't want her to start healing the wrong way, so he swallowed hard and squared his shoulders and readied himself for whatever was... coming... next... A pony? Danny blinked at the creature confusedly, his mouth half-open in what had been a polite greeting intended for Thoth. The boy looked uncertainly down at Solarius, who gave the equivalent of a feline shrug in response. The mare wanted them to follow, it seemed, but... What if they were invading Thoth's personal space? Or what if...? General gave a soft peep, reminding him of why he was there, and Danny stiffened his resolve. Even if Thoth got mad, Danny knew his intentions were good and he knew he couldn't just let the brave, bossy little bird suffer.

"In we go," Danny muttered to Sol, who followed a few steps behind as they entered the room. They stopped in wonder, Danny's mouth falling open all over again as he turned a slow circle to try and take in his surroundings. His own room was rather... tame, compared to Thoth's. There were a variety of books in his, more books than any eleven-year-old should probably possess, and there was inevitably a pile of clothing in one corner, but nothing compared to the variety of strange instruments scattered across Thoth's living space. And what was the green smog stuff that had filled up the room? Danny sniffed cautiously, his eyes finally falling back to the pony where she stood. Then, after a second, Danny realized she was standing near Thoth. The pony nudged him, no doubt to tell him there were visitors, but the boy didn't move... Danny frowned a little. Something wasn't right... Clearly, the pony agreed. She moved from breaker to window, clearly trying to tell him something.

"Uhh... Danny... is it just me or do things seem... all sleepy...?" Sol questioned, following that strange sentence with a wide yawn.

"GAS!" Danny suddenly shouted, realizing at last what the pony had clearly known all along.

"... Did you really just announce-?" Sol asked, sounding shocked. Danny glared at him. Realization dawned in Sol's mind, finally, and the tiger added, " Ooooooohhhhhhhhh!"

Danny searched for a clear space to set General down, mumbling an apology to the bird as he did, then rushed to the window. It took him a second of fighting with the latch to finally open it, but he ripped it open as wide as it would go before hurrying back to the burner. What now?

"Toss it!" Sol said helpfully.

"I don't think..." Danny answered nervously, but even as the smoke left the room more was billowing from the beaker. He knew he was supposed to do something, maybe turn the burner off and place the beaker somewhere... safe? But... Finally, pulling his sleeves down over his hands to protect them from the hot glass, he picked the beaker up and tossed it out the window. Then he looked worriedly to the pony, as if trying to ask her not to tattle on him.

That done, Danny sidled nearer to Thoth and nudged him lightly with his shoe. "Uhm, Thoth? Uhm..."

The boy shot a glance over his shoulder, finding familiar, sparrow, and pony all there, and cleared his throat. What now?
