The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

Failure erupted into his heart as he ran forward into the cave where water was filled not three days ago. It was slanted, like he remembered it, but nothing seemed new or out of place. Nothing. Darkness had started to lift around him when the clearing had started to grow smaller, and the panic in Zev’s eyes grew larger. His body was quaking in fear. He had never loved another wolf before. And he didn’t think he ever would. But Athene had changed that thought from his mind. She was someone who he wanted to know, who was calling his name in a way. Or perhaps that wasn’t right. Maybe it was the silence that was haunting him. The thought came into his head, and he stopped. Air rushed through his fur, his muzzle parted as the glint of his canines showed under the dull light leaking into the cavern. His shoulders lurched, his back creaked with the loss of running and finding nothing. Zev’s ears flickered as he turned his head, a shield to the pain. Nothing seemed right. Or would it ever? Hellene’s scent drifted into his nares as he returned. And there was a pain in his heart. Did anyone feel the drive that you want to know so bad what another was thinking? At all? The pain and the pleading feeling was not something good to feel on a daily basis. Or had it been just hours?

Hellene seemed confused when he returned, and words started flying out of his mouth. Of course there had to be something he was missing. Of course Hellene knew something about this that he didn’t. Of course she would help him. Or would she really? The brute had the smallest doubt in his mind lurking forward, growing with each second before diminishing for half of one. His blue gaze looked down on her, the numbness in his heart starting to leak away. The pain was becoming too strong where his emotions could be left unscathed. There was something he was missing. He had to make sure of it. So he waited for Hellene to speak, and his mind flustered when she did. “ Athene was never here. But we may not be too late. Was this the place you were aiming to travel to? What was your purpose? What was your goal? Did you have a goal and she followed, or did she have a goal destination and you followed? Where, Zev!? Think hard, think fast! Where were you suppose to go?” Her voice was reaching a peak higher and higher, her adrenaline starting to feed off of her onto the brute. Her voice was flustered, which made Zev start to panic. Of course Athene wasn’t here. Why should she be? But other thoughts failed to reach into his mind.

But then. It actually hit him like a rock. This was not figurative in any way; he almost felt the contact it would have made on the side of his face. And then the anger set in. How could he be so blind? Why would he be so careless? Fury rushed into his veins, and he almost hit himself on the side of the hall in his rush. He felt his gaze burn. “Why was I so blind? How could this small little distraction sweep me in the wrong direction?! Why would this ever be the place where she would go??!!” Then he stopped. He stopped. Everything in his heart faulted. The anger was gone in half of a second, probably half of a half. “Oh. My. God.” His feet lurched out from under his body, his head moving in one swift motion. He had never been so careless of where he ran in his life. Ever. Of course Hellene should be confused. “The staircase. The goddamn staircase! Why was I so stupid? Hellene, hurry!” He hurled himself into the air in a jump, just managing to scramble onto the second step from the bottom. There were times when Zev was thankful he was so large. But his speed faltered only slightly when the darkness turned heavy, and he just somehow managed at the top of the hole to wait for the ess down below him to make the journey from the bottom of that evil cavern. When he scented her, he didn’t make another sound. He just turned and walked the way they had came, back towards the entrance of the Cavern of Secrets. Oh, how many secrets did this horrible place even hide?

The light started to pour from the entrance about five minutes later, Zev ruffling out his pelt from the tight spaces once he turned down another alleyway. He would never forget this place. Never. It had driven him back here once before, and they had left because of something he hadn’t realized. Was this really the place she would go? He turned, thrusting himself forward into the darkness.
