The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The world had shook, with the stars falling upon it this day. He was stirred from his restful nap when I decided to hit, only a gentle shake from his home on the outskirts of Diveen. He knew it had to mean something, and yet he was not to know until the sky turned dark and began to glitter with signs of fate. He waited, sitting atop his moss and snow covered rocky home, under the sleeping tree that would soon bloom with life once more.

He knew spring was to come, for the moons had told him it was coming close. Life was to pop up anew in the lands of Diveen, and yet he was to remain alone, to live out the outskirts for that is what was demanded of him. He was welcomed to live where he wished within the pack, and yet he always seemed to prefer the outskirts. If she ever decided to visit...it would not be as noticed. A pipe dream, perhaps, for maybe it was only he that was drawn to her so strongly.

He watched as the light of day faded to a dark blue, little specks of light from sources far starting to peek through the heavens. The first one spoke to him, telling him to go forth towards his typical destination. He often went to Iromar, scouting the borders in hopes of even catching the scent of the woman who drew him in. This, may not be what the stars wish today though. This is of the shake, the movement of earth. He sighed lightly before he lifted, and went on his way towards the crags.

It is clearly night when he arrives, the sky free of clouds and holding only a sliver of a moon. His brilliant blue eyes remained fixed on the little dots that spoke so loudly, louder than the whispers of even the wind. He paused with chocolate paws atop cold hard rock, gazing above as he is told to enter the darkness beyond. He slowly closes his eyes, nodding before traverses the rocky land.

His sleek dark form came to a halt at an entrance most thin and dark. His blue eyes, lined in silver on the bottom, look into it slowly. He inhales the scents that the winds bring to him, little messages of who had been where, and who may still linger. He felt the urge to continue on, just as the stars had commanded, stepping forth into darkness and leaving the illumination of silvered moonlight.

It is dark as he feels the cold walls on his sides. Light seems void for only but a moment, before the caves small entrance opens up to a room much larger, much wider. Moonlight shimmers down from a crack above. His dark chocolate form is obscured as he gazes ahead, pleased to have found a place most serene and calm. Rock hung to the ceiling in stalactites, and further past the light were more winding mysteries before him.

He stepped towards the light, allowing the dim illumination to bathe upon his dark pelt. The silver on his forehead and under his eyes seemed to glow against the darkness of his form, his own blue eyes glimmering as he gazed upon. His body slowly lowered into a lay, legs stretch before him as he continued to allow the light to fall upon him.

The stars were most intense in these moments. They were louder than before, but their message was odd. They wished him to close his eyes, to absorb the light that falls upon him and the meditate in their presence. That is exactly what the male did, feeling the cold earth upon his belly. The skies above were to bless his mind, to clear his eternal soul as he emptied his thoughts. Perhaps there is more purpose for him to be in this magical spot, perhaps not. Yet here he will remain, still like the stone that surrounds him, until the light of the moon blessed him no more.
