Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Well, at least Devil pretends to listen. I appreciate that, I suppose, to some extent. I offered something of an eye roll regardless, attention returned to the earth beneath my own snowy paws, ears pricked forward, searching for any indication of which way the creature had fled. I have no idea where he lives and truthfully I hardly care, yet if he was successful here I am entirely assured he will return. That is what cannibals do, true cannibals, return again and again to the place they lasted tasted blood. I can hardly claim to know the boy, yet I know my job and I have hunted such creatures for longer than any other wolf here. If he fed here, he will return, though when I hardly know. I snorted once more, one ear flicking as Devil spoke before the sound of another approaching saw my head lift, violet gaze fixating upon the towering, hulking creature, the largest wolf in Moladion I believe. Chance. Typical that Devil should sire some sort of….giant. Personally I blame Kiska, her blood always was….debatable, just as she is. Never liked the girl. Devil could have done better. For now however I let my gaze rest upon my nephew as he came, tattered left ear flicking towards him as he spoke, allowing myself a nod of greeting, content to return to tracking the fragments of scent that remained when the mention of my daughter’s name saw my eyes slice readily back towards him, a growl caught within my throat as my tail flicked in evident disdain. I have not seen my Aaliyah in over a year, no one has, her name unmentioned within the pack and I have no desire to hear it spoken. I cannot find my baby girl, I refuse to allow my mind to believe what is surely the truth, that Tobias did as we all had warned and turned upon her and yet still some part of myself refuses to believe this. She had been so sure, so sure of him and of herself, her children all that remains of my Littlest Angel.

“Do not talk to me about my daughter.”

I snapped the words towards him, eyes cutting briefly to Devil, the message clear enough. He could silence his son or a would do it for him. I hardly dislike chance, in fact, I find the boy rather…tolerable, though I have no desire to indulge such conversation today. Whatever thoughts I further had were interrupted by the approach of another, one distinctly familiar, my own head tilted slightly to the side, one eye lifting in mild amusement before I simply turned to face the dark female whom came forward to halt at my side. Alias, apparently, the female smelling strongly of Taviora and…trees. I’m have inclined to ask if she’s ever considered throwing herself at a few of them and opening the land up a bit, honestly such trees are hardly...useful to anything. I offered a dip of my head all the same, a slight smirk tracing my lips at the calling she offered. Hmm, yes, I was rather legendary wasn’t I. Her words confirmed what I had believed already, that this was indeed the place, head turning to look in the direction of Glorall. Would he move to another pack so quickly? Perhaps…..if he had been so successful at the first. My attention once more deviated to this…Alias, suspicious of her all the same and yet content to ignore it for now, nodding once more to the Taviora wolf. Evidently I have been declared leader of this gathering and really, it’s about time I had followers once more, I am a rather extraordinary king after all now aren’t I?

“We have the numbers, we can send wolves that way, Diveen and Taviora are both in good standing with Glorall, perhaps-“

The sound of yet another saw my handsome head turn once more, old eyes falling back to Malina as she and Neveah moved into the gathering, her mention of my missing Trenus earning the girl an eye roll. Hmm, perhaps some of her spark has come back- good, I was starting to worry she’d lost her spine. Her evident disdain in Neveah’s presence was met with little more then one eye lifting slightly.

“Your whatever I say you are, Malina, besides I am sure my former apprentice can teach my newest apprentice something, my daughter or not. Listen to her Neveah, Malina is perhaps the best I have trained.”

I moved to look away, having no desire to offer Malina any further praise and really, I never was good at the emotional side of things, I have said what needs to be said, watching the girls move to walk away, the barest hint of a grin on my lips once more as they moved together. I have thought of Malina as my own for….a long time and to see Neveah with her now is….pleasing to me. The sudden shriek of ‘daddy’ saw my snowy form pivot in place once more, old limbs protesting at the sight of a rather…pregnant girl rushing towards Devil. Z….something, I forget. I merely turned away, content to let Devil bask in the glow of fatherhood, attention returning to Alias, Chance and the others now.

“Is anyone here in contact with Glorall? Do any of you have a mate or imprint there? Someone we can ask about the creature? I am not trudging to that unholy watering hole without reason, if someone has connections there, we will use them. If someone would like to volunteer then say so, or else I will simply start delegating.”

A final member made himself know, or at least, the reeking scent of fear managed to permeate my nostrils, head jerking towards the black blur as he took off, tearing deeper into Taviora, a growl rumbling within my chest. Really, the boy shouldn’t have run, his unfortunate resemblance through coat colour alone to the wolf we were hunting prompting the reaction he received, violet eyes narrowed.

“I don’t give a damn which of you does it but someone bring me that boy, get after him, go.”

Maybe he knew something, maybe he didn’t, we’d find out. Had I known he may very well have acted as the perfect lure for our target I might have even chased him myself, so unknowingly sending my newfound army into battle….

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
