To her it was part of a teacher’s job to believe in their students, but also not to fill them with false hope; all the same it made her happy to see him celebrating. As she talked she could tell he was listening and memorizing what she said this pleased her for this meant that he would learn fast, it pleased her even more so when he mimicked the stalking position and corrected himself. She wasn’t too surprise that Roam abruptly stood up when she told, she had guessed he was naïve in this way.
She hesitated before answering him slowly,
“I won’t lie to you; in a way yes, it does hurt them.”
She waited a few moments letting it sink in, before continuing,
“That said, we hunt for multiple reasons but the main reason is survival, for both our own and the species we hunt. For instance if we didn’t hunt all the green vegetation would eventually be eaten and all the creatures that eat it would move on because there wouldn’t be any food left for them, as hunters we keep this land beautiful, and the creatures where they are.” , she explains tentatively,
“Another reason we do this is that most of what we hunt are either weak, injured, or sick; unlike the packs they don’t have healers so if one gets sick it could spread to the whole family group, or slow them down. We help keep their species healthy and strong.”
“What I’m teaching you is the fastest way to finish them, so they don’t go through too much pain. Don’t waste the food you get from them, and if you decide to continue with this lesson I’ll show you something that helped me when I first found out.” She told him. Hoping that all that has she said would allow him to know that hunting was more than just for them.
