The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

~~~~~Athene~~~~~
The darkness of the cavern that she had just escaped from blocked her vision, her pupils, constricted from the bright rays of the sun, were useless. But that was only one of her senses, and there was no reason that she need depend upon it. Peering in and realizing this, she knew it would be useless to try to see what lay within the abyss. Her mind was still telling her to run, to run from the ghost of the brute that lay within the darkness. There was still time to escape him and escape from the threat that he posed to her - to threaten how she was raised to be and to survive and live. Alone, a warrior in her own right, belonging to no one except for the pack, her heart not her own to give away. She was to protect and feed the pack, except she had no pack now, did she? She had left Spring Grounds without a word and there was no doubt in her mind that she had been long forgotten. Perhaps there was a new Alpha... would anyone even remember the few singular days that she had lived there?
Was Athene to default back to her parent's pack then? Return to them and be loyal and the warrior that she had been raised to be? If so, she would be mated to the strongest of the male warriors, to continue her lineage of warriors. The first born usually took on the father's role, any other usually took on the mother's. It had been different for her and Hellene - Hellene had been first born but her klutzy nature had sent her down their mother's path of herbology. Athene had been chosen as her father's prodigy. It was because of him that the fae was who she was today - strong, silent, loyal.
Was Athene to be naught more but a pawn and a vessel for the rest of her days? This was the argument that her heart gave when the mind was trying to drive her away from the cavern and Zev and Hellene. For with Zev, there was the option for something more. A life with more purpose than what she was born and chosen to do, a destiny in which she could make her own decisions. Was it possible for her to live a happier life than their mother had? For their mother had been chosen by their father for her beauty and wisdom, but he had never loved her. She had merely been a good choice to bear his seed and therefore his offspring. But their mother... she had loved him through and through and still did. Unrequited love was perhaps the worst torture of all.
This was her chance to have a better life than her mother's... she would give him one chance. He had the next few moments to say the right things. If he did, she would stay, her silent fears quieted and dissipated. But if he failed to say what she needed to hear him say... she would be gone, swept away by the strong gusts of wind that caressed the mountainside. Zev erupted from the cavern quickly and yet timidly. Athene... I-don't under stand.......Did... did I do something wrong? The timberess felt a tug to leave. These were not the words she needed. These words held no promises nor a future. Her honey orbs shifted and saw her sister exit the cavern, a grim smile upon her lips.
~~~~~Hellene~~~~~

Hellene stood silently behind Zev, no words escaping her lips for it was not she who could say anything to make Athene stay. Her sister looked cold, stoic... yet to Hellene there was something more. Something she had never seen in her sister's eyes before - uncertainty, and, perhaps hope. The situation was fragile and what Zev did in the next few moments would be critical. Whining and pleading would do naught and honestly such words would fall upon deaf ears. As Hellene expected, Athene remained still and gave no response to the brute's first set of words. Hellene could see Athene pulling away, the dynamic time period drawing close, Zev's chance of keeping Athene dwindling. But then a spark... perhaps it would be enough of a monologue to give him a few more seconds. I don't know what it was; if it was something I said or did or made you believe, but I'm sorry. And... I don't want this to end here. Hellene and her impulsive self wanted to scream at him. To go on and tell Athene exactly what he felt. But this was his fight and he needed to prove his worthiness to Athene. This was the choice... this was the point of no return...

~~~~~Athene~~~~~
Slowly she shook her head, inhaling, picking from her mind carefully selected words even as she felt the anger boiling inside of her. He wanted her to stay, but why? What could he give her? For what reason should she stay? Why? Why?
"What is there existing that could possibly end
We have only a few days together spent
For something to end, it first has to start
Don't you dare think you found a way into my...
"
Her voice faltered and she turned away from the pair, her eyes burning, the lie she was able to tell still lingering on her tongue. But this ess could say no lies - it was not in her nature and she had been brought up other wise. As she braced herself and began to walk away, she heard her sister's voice finish the last word of the rhyme. "
...heart" Athene inhaled deeply, biting her lip. This was the choice... this was the point of no return...
