The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

There was silence all around, but it was not my friend this day. The shadows were toying with my eyes, playing off of my already frayed nerves. Despite my unease, I kept calm and alert, something my assassin training had taught me. I was aware of the possibility that the demon still lurked just out of sight. But the she wolf would have to go through the tundra's fury before she could try to go after the wolf I protected. The sight and scent of the poor female's blood was all over me. Normally I loved the smell, but in cases like this, all I felt was nauseous. There was no justification for the attack, just a want of blood shed. The poor female, she was lucky I had been around when I did. It made me wince, this life could have been lost had I not been here. Now her life rested in my paws, and, although I was a killer, I would do everything in my power to make sure she returned to the mountain.

I heard motion behind me, making my ears perk. I quickly turned, my icy blue eyes watching carefully as the female woke and attempted to rise. I stood protectively, like a mother would with a pup. "She is most unwise to try to move right now. She must rest," I informed her in my strange way of speaking. I hoped her mind was cleared enough to understand my words. I moved closer to her as she whimpered and fell back down. I walked slowly and in a non threatening way. Even wolves of the best natures could unknowingly lash out when disoriented. When I was sure she would not strike, I lowered my head and gently touched her head with my obsidian nose; a reassuring gesture from the lands from wence I came, and, even through the cultural differences, I knew she would understand.

I backed away slightly so the white wolf would not feel suffocated by my presence. The spirane wolf croaked and coughed, trying to seek out the voice that was surely lost in the fog of her mind. "Who are you?" She finally manages, sitting up right. I smiled, knowing it was the only thing she could find to say at such a time. "Ailith is her name. She has done everything she can to stop the bleeding with what little healing skills she knows. She keeps watch so the demon does not return to attack the injured. Ailith will not allow the monster to do anymore damage," I said, laying down just outside the little den since I could barely fit my upper torso inside with the girl laying in there. I tilted my head slightly, my ears perked and eyes curious. "The injured, she is from Spirane, da? When she is ready, Ailith will return her to her homelands, but for now she will rest. A rough day she has certainly had," I smiled, hoping to make her feel more comfortable. She was Purge's wolf, and so I must protect her. We were not pack mates, yet anyway, that didn't detour my protective instinct. Even if the female had not been from Spirane, i'd have saved her from the blood thirsty demon regardless. "If she needs anything, Ailith will be sure to fetch it. Maybe some food? Or the skin of the Demon Queen who did this to her?" I said, hoping to make her laugh a little at the last part. Of course it was true, as an assassin I could go hunt the black mistresses down and skin her. But I would only do it if it was asked of me. All she had to do was say the word, and I would bath the earth in demon blood.

Death surrounds, my heartbeat's slowing down. I won't take this world's abuse. I won't give up, I refuse. This how it feels when you're bent and broken. This is how it feels when your dignity's stolen. When everything you love is leaving, you hold on to what you believe in....
