News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Return to Lunar Children
I won't betray my Heart

Perhaps I had not won this by a fight but was that my fault? Not a chance! I had not been the one who didn't show up to answer the call of challenge. No sir! I had been there and I had waited. Eventually, her face was not cast upon my own and I had moved back home. Into the mountains that I knew and taken them as my own. I had looked around but the scent was growing stale. I had inhaled her own with a scrunching of my nose and grunted. I had then, lifted my voice to the heavens for them to come.

I am first greeted by one of my sons. My eyes take him in and curiously, he seems to check me over. There is some question and confusion and really, I cannot blame him. I am not marred with blood or injury. I am unscathed. He is quiet as he nuzzles me and I return the affection as he comes to settle by me. We are not alone for long though; another approaches us. It is one of Purge's minions and I find the hairs along my neck raising with static electricity that clings to the air. Tension. I was not surprised that there would be some. It is natural I guess that there would be a few who do not agree with my taking over. They had not called this home as I did though. They were new and their ways unfamiliar to us all. They did not know our history here and so, they could not possibly understand it all. I would let them have their say though; I would not stand for threats.

"You wish to remain then you will respect those in charge. Or you can leave." I spoke calmly to them, my eyes never faltering a firm stare upon this 'would be' challenger. "It will not be by your paws that I die though. You are sadly mistaken wolf." I smile here and there is challenge in those eyes. There is a deep meaning burning within them. My spirit is not rattled by this minion of hers. Never. Sleekwing comes then and I watch them. Through brilliant eyes, I take in the confusion and question. Natural once more I would imagine. I do not bear misery to a fight well won. I bear my own body as witness that a coward had never appeared. I would consider them a coward because they would have fought me well had they shown up. In my eyes a wolf who vanishes is not even fit to hold a metaphorical throne as it may be. Alphas stand up for what they have and what they believe in. I do not bear witness of this from Purge and her own. Where had they been while we were waiting? Where had they been while the mountain scents grew stale and the silence became deafening?

I could not answer that unfortunately as I do not know. "A challenge was made and your 'would be Alpha Female did not make her appearance. Had she; I cannot say that things would have turned out this way. We would have fought and the victor would have come home. I cannot say that would have been me, but I'd have fought my hardest had I been given that opportunity." I shook my nose a little and offer Sleekwing a smile. "Perhaps though; our mountains have a chance now to prosper again. Perhaps we can rebuild and honor the bonds that were strong within our pack before." Not the mess and ruins that Purge had left on our doorstep. Sorrowful to think about honestly.

There is another to approach us then. Niviaq and a smile warms on my lips. My bright eyes study her ever so curiously and I listen intently to what she has to say. There is a grateful expression on my features then to her and I dip my nose ever so gently. I take in the scents again and another of my children are quick on Niviaq's heels. I watch her ever so curiously and I can see her frustration. I know what she must think and I'm sure she realizes we may not be out of the woods yet. There are those who are angry but perhaps, they can be persuaded. "You wanted change and you were tired of the silence that surrounded us. I am here to bring that change." I look to Skully again and there's a serious expression here now. "Do you really want to follow a leader who's paws do not appear when a challenge lays on her doorstep? What change had she brought in the death of those we loved? Were we no more silent beneath her than we had perhaps, been before?"

I pause to let these words sink in. Purge had not brought change. She had brought confusion and anger. She had brought sorrow. Not the kind of change they needed though. They may have had more on their borders than they had in some time, but that was mainly to say goodbye to their loved ones. Friends who had fallen both beneath her paws to injury and to the loss of one's beloved mate. No, that was definitely not the change they needed at all. I cleared my throat when the silence is long enough and I continue.

"Tell me; what good changes did you see in the brief reign of Purge? What beyond anger and uncertainty lay within our mountains?" Because I had only seen disaster in the making. I had only seen something that never should have been. It was something that hadn't been good for their mountains at all. "She did not bother seeking out alliances or even considering anyone but Iromar. That was only because they came to us and not the other way around. There was no order among us and I don't think there would have been." Only a power-hungry wolf who had destruction on the brain. Their pack had no clear direction but now Did they stand a chance? I would like to think so.
