News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

I am ill at ease.
There is something amiss...

I cannot know that it would be on this day of days that something terrible has occurred within the territories of Diveen. I have not the clairvoyance to foresee the tragedy that has struck my former mate, or the backlash it would convey upon his already tattered Soul. I do not know the danger it poses to those of our own blood, to the lives of our children and grand children and those we called friends. I do not share that sacred connection with him, not as he and Natalya bare. Yet something inside me whispers that all is not well.

I tell myself it is only that I long for his company. This compulsion to stray from Taviora and make the long trek across the breadth of Moladian. It had not done me any good, to run across him in the forests of Encora wood this past fall, hunting beside him under the glow of the Harvest Moon. I had felt more apart of the World at his side that night then I had in a very long time, as if Gravity had finally regained hold of me, planting my paws firmly back to soil once again. I'd felt alive, no longer so detached. I tell myself this is why my gut twists and wrenches so, because I feel out of place without him.

And still that whisper slithers.

It is not the first time my obsidian corsets ghosted the peripheries of the chasm of Angels. Indeed I would be ashamed to admit how often I've haunted the shadows just beyond their border, closest to the den which serves as the abode for my former mate and his Imprint. It is not an easy feeling, knowing the only wolf I can truly say I've ever come to Love dwells there, embraced in the warmth of another. But there are some nights when I am simply comforted by the knowledge that he still exists, that he still breathes and fairs well in the land of our comrades.

But on this day, I am not assuaged as I trek along the very edge of Diveen's Border. It is not enough to quell the unease that grows like a virus inside me. Indeed, the closer I've come the more acute this feeling of Foreboding is perceived. A crackle of static rides hard along my spine, a chill that reaches for my very bones and causes the silken blades of my ruff to stand on end across the nape of my neck.

Something is very very Wrong

I scan the perimeter of the Angel Citadel, a grim expression hardening the lines of my face, and for the first time since disappearing into the vast wilderness beyond Moladian's keep my paws touch down on Divinian Soil. It is as if I can feel the violence, feel the threat vibrating through the very air, and from somewhere in the distance, I can hear the snarls and roars of someone in combat. Dancer's spires are as black lightning, scorching over the Earth in my haste to reach Devil's den, and as I come upon the seen, it would seem Fate would have me arriving only too late.

The horrific drama unfurls before me as the black cloak that is Devil is seen to be lurched over the cowering figure of cream and gold, our own Granddaughter Calliel... for whom I'd only met by sheer accident in Taviora not but some days ago! Stella is set upon her surrogate father, my eldest daughter turning her fangs upon him and using her size to grapple him away from the child as another wolf whom I recognize as an angel circles around and attempts an assault upon the black hellion from behind.

My paws skid to a halt some distance away, still shrouded in shadows as it would seem shock overcomes me and I am given to a momentary state of paralysis. It is only by Heyel's arrival and quick actions that Calliel is spared further injury, the fleet old dog rushing in to snatch the girl out from under Devil's fangs and my heart withers as I see the broken, half-rabid look that glows through Dev's golden eyes. It is not the eyes of my Devil, but some feral creature, Devil's mind is not his own and a terrible Fear grips my Soul. It is Heyel that finally places himself before his oldest friend, fangs bared upon Stella and Eden to give the man space even as he faces the threat of the Samurai's blades himself. Devil has undergone such a rampage before and none were safe when it had occurred, but it had been spurned by the murder of his Fathom... What could have happened to make him revert back to this primal status?

My heart stutters in it's ivory cage; Natalya....!

Where was she? I look around though my paws still seem glued into place, frantic eyes search the area. His Imprint should be here! It should have been she to protect the child from Devil's wrath, She who would shield Devil from his own children and comrades in arms... but there was no sign of the silver assassin. And then beyond the fray of fur and blood and fang, I spy a still figure barely visible where it lays in the mouth of the pair's den. Her silver fur billows in the breeze, but she does not so much as lift her head, does not so much as twitch amid the chaos taking place outside her resting place.

Oh Gods... Devil...!

My legs seem to be granted their leave, and I am springing to action yet again, though now Isola has appeared and there is no compassion or sympathy within her gaze. I cannot blame her, Devil is as much a danger to himself as he is to her family. Our Family. She stands proud before him and makes her decree before all to see, offering only the absolution of her decision as she gathers Stella and Eden to her side, prepared to drive the black wraith from Diveen by whatever means necessary.

"Devil..." My voice is sharp in the night, cutting like a knife blade, commanding his attention away from the gathering as I materialize from the darkness from behind him, sliding up near to his side but giving him his ample space should he turn and lash out at me. I do not care that I've given away my disguise. I do not care that most present aside from Stella and Heyel are of the impression I was dead or long gone from this place. all that mattered was the safety of our kindred and getting Devil away from here before he murders again or is murdered himself. There were too many wolves present, and Surely in his delirium and disorientation it is highly likely that his agitation will only escalate, putting others in harms way and himself. Stella would surely destroy him if given the chance, and judging by the look in Isola's eyes she may just permit my eldest to do so.

"Devil," I call again, thankful for on this night I had opted to discard my guise of ash and soot. "Look here to me, I am here... I am with you now."

I could see in his eyes, in his being, his soul was fractured... his heart broken. He was spinning out of control, a madness consuming him. And it was costing him everything he had left. I had abandoned him for the sake of his Imprint, but I would not forsake my former Mate in his most Dire hour of need. I could face Devil's wrath, I could take the punishment of his fangs and handle any backlash of his fury, for it has always been so within our complex relationship. So long as no others come to harm and Devil himself comes to no harm... that is what I must ensure.

My eyes flash to Calliel, where even now Meryl sees to her injuries, I see the tears that threaten to spill from Isola, the callous starkness of Stella and Eden. "Oh Devil, what have you Done?" It is a forlorn note that shrouds the tenors of my voice, a husky whisper perhaps not meant for anyone's ears but his, though surely all gathered indeed hear them spoken.

My gaze seeks his, to hold it captive. "Come back to us Devil, come back to me and end this madness.... Come away from here with me. Come away before others are harmed..." I back away, back towards the night and the shadows. Closer to the edges of Diveen and into the freelands where I might be able to reign in Devil and his Demons. Eyes turn sharply to the others. "Let me take him.... Please. Do not follow us for the sake of your own safety."
