Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

These wings of freedom (Dearest Mother)

The only thing we're allowed to do is to believe we won't regret the choice we made

I trotted around the outside of the den, well atleast as far as mother would allow. She had already found out about my little excursion the other day when I met that pup Sciathan, and of course I had been reprimanded rather harshly if I do say so myself. After all, when my sisters, Enya and Ravenna, double teamed me and constantly tried to assault me, they weren't even chastised. Yet I go on a little exploration to escape the hectic chaos my sisters caused back at the den, and I get into trouble. I was no longer allowed to venture off on my own, and mother said I had to stay just around the den or, quote on quote, 'You'll never be allowed to leave the den again until you're an adult.' I knew she was full of crap though, because pretty soon she was going to want some privacy and i'd be granted my freedom once more.

I moved around the grass like the predator I was going to grow up to be. I moved silently, even for being my first few hunting attempts. My floppy ears swiveled around and my nose smelled the air for any sign of prey. I was honing my skills to be the top hunter of Glorall one day, nothing was going to stop me. Up ahead, I heard the sound of small feet scurrying and my nose scented the distinct rodent smell of a vole. My stubby legs lowered, as I crouched and began to stalk forward, my icy blue gaze focused forward. I saw movement in the grass an instantly waddled around downwind, something my father had taught me how to do.

In front of me, the fat rodent ate grass, rebuilding all its lost fat from winter (though it seemed to have already done a good job of that). I stopped moving, my butt wiggling slightly, preparing to spring. My short legs jumped into action, sending me forward and onto the vole before it could understand what was going on. In a few quick strides, I was ontop of the mouse-like creature that was trying to run back to one of its holes. My small jaws caught it, my milk teeth biting into its small neck and snapping it quickly. Its squeaks and struggles stop abruptly. As I pick up the lifeless vole, some of its blood drips down my chest, staining it red. My eyes narrowed in disgust as I turned and quickly started back towards the den.

I walked into the den without hesitation. Normally I would have dreaded walking back in, but today my two obnoxious sisters were off with dad and wouldn't be back for a while, so it was just me and mom. I headed down into the den, trotting along with the vole dangling from my mouth. I trotted lazily back to where my mother's frame rested. She was sleeping, how annoying. I walked up and poked her side, gently, with my paw in order to wake her up. When her green eyes opened and she looked over to me, I tossed the vole to her paws. "Here," I said, giving it to my mother because she needed it more than me, no matter how small it was. I laid down, my icy gaze looking at how filthy I was. "Tch, disgusting..." I grumbled and began to clean myself, starting with licking away the blood from my chest.

All the while, I silently listened to see what my mother would say to the gift I gave her. After all, i'd like to see my sisters hunt as well as I did.
