The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

A white cloak dirtied by occasional patterns of grey- upon his legs- fell in medium length robes around his slight body. Being the runt had stunted his growth, well before he would even recognise that it had done so. Gangly paws flicked out before his chest and hit the floor with a deadly silence- despite his somewhat clumsy disposition as he moved along the current path his mother had chosen for him. Unlike his brothers and sisters that were growing taller and more muscular every day, the runt remained small and skeletal hoping that in time he would attain his siblings good looks and charms. This wolf was a quiet boy, having not much to say about anything, and found that taking on a life of silence was far more convenient. It allowed him to listen. A good skill when partially sighted. Where his sight failed him, his other senses were beginning to grow stronger- more tuned than any of his family would imagine. Soon he would be a deadly weapon with a capability and skill that no-one could deny. Little did he know, but his build would soon come in handy and one day he would discard his wishes for his brother’s handsome features and strong muscular bodies. He would be perfect all in good time!

He trailed far behind his mother and brother- their ghostly figures vanishing through the mass of trees and shadows that seemed to line the horizon and earth beyond his view. The moon goddess was finishing the long descent from her throne in the sky, leaving icy trickles of moonlight in her wake; that lit the path on which the youngster treads. On the other side of the tree line came the fiery arms of the sun- threatening to burn the last remaining spots of moonlight with its powerful light. Still the young man resided in the shadows, following the faint tracks left behind by his family and quivering away from the burning light as if it were some sort of poison on his skin. In the distance he could hear them, just about making out the sound of their voices, as Verity led her offspring towards a destination that it appeared only she knew of. His wise and head strong mother had always known where she was going- even when sometimes it appeared that she was as lost in this world as the rest of them- but Arnou was certain that she would always find a way.

Verity had awoken her children- the siblings that still remained with her- before the moon had even begun her descent and had hurried them out of the comfort of their current den. Arnou had trailed behind since the start- sleep clouding the vision in his only useful eye. He had tripped and stumbled repeatedly on the journey, attempting to keep in step with his nurse and brother Ame but after relentless efforts had given up and decided to enjoy the peace and quiet he so rarely experienced. During this time he tested his senses- listening and feeling and tasting and smelling- finding that although his mother had faded from his eye line, that he could still feel her around him. Almost as if he could still see her. It had surprised him at first and he had soon lost the image never to regain it again and though disappointed that he had failed, the ghost of a smile fell upon his kissers, tainting his features for the duration of travelling- well until he stumbled upon his family.

For some strange reason they had stopped in their tracks, sitting randomly in a patch of earth as if they were at the edge of something. Silently the youngster trailed towards his mother- just catching the last of their words- before he finally reached them. Immediately the teen, being a bit of a mummy’s boy, took a seat next to Verity and nuzzled gently into the white fur on her ribs. Being small meant he couldn’t quite reach the shoulder or her face and so he was content with the fluff on her chest. To the outside world Arnou would look like a later litter- still being a pup- whilst his siblings were already adolescents. That was not the case in fact and the brute would occasionally bare a tooth to any who thought so- but that wasn’t often for they didn’t often meet anyone. With one clouded stargazer and the other a dull grey, like his brothers, the youngster stared up at his mother with a questioning look; waiting for what?
