Sokka could not believe he was being dragged away from his conquest (and normal activities) to climb one of those scary mountains that his parents had warned him about to go visit someone he didn’t know. Nope. He had had a full day planned and like any kid, he was unhappy about having to have to leave all those ideas and playmates (even if they were imaginary) to go traipsing about the jungle.

And he actually was sort of tired. Maybe not enough to complain, but still it was tiring to climb and have his mother constantly tell him to be careful and to watch where he put a hoof and to stay close. You know, all the annoying things moms do. Sokka would appreciate it one day.

Today was not that day.

However, as they rounded a corner, he stopped. Below them was a vastly different land. It was full of trees and rocks and it was quite a change from the Paradise. His ears (which had been pinned back the whole time in irritation) pulled forward. He pressed a little closer to his mother, so that his velvet nose was against her hip. Her tail swatted him a bit and he snorted.

“Preddy ain’ id?” Dia asked looking back at Sokka. She smiled at her wide eyed colt. “Dis is called da Ridge. We ‘ave neighbas ‘ere. And Ah ‘ave a gud friend.”

Sokka looked at his mother.

“Sa… where’s dis friend?”

“Dad’s da advencha pard,” His mother answered all too happily. “Ah dunno where sheh is, bud Ah knaw she’s ‘ere. We gedda go find-a.”

Sokka took another look over the ledge.

“Ok,” He answered, his voice quacking just the slightest. It was a long fall after all.
