Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

but we're the gladiators
but secretly we're saviors
During winter, many of the prey we hunt become scarce and hard to find,” I said as I set off from Diveen with Emil at my side. The boy seemed eager to learn, in his own way. When I had first seen the boy at the pack party, something about him had reminded me of myself at such an age. Perhaps it was the way he looked at his father, with determination and pride. It was the way I had always looked at Acheron when I was a boy, and to this day I was striving to fill his paw prints. My goal to rise to Guardian Angel was part of that aspiration. My father had been a warrior of Trenus, and I wished to become as great a protector for Diveen as he had once been for Trenus. Besides that, protecting my family had always been a priority of mine. Perhaps that was what had distracted me from completing these tasks when I had first set out to do them nearly three years prior – the drive to protect Elowen and our children, to always be with them so that if anything at all went wrong I could right it. Of recent, however, I had remembered that I owed my pack a service, and that I had made a promise to Isola. One I planned to fulfill.

We moved across the wide field, and my eyes darted back and forth, looking for drifts in the snow near bushes that might shelter a hare’s nest. “One of the best small prey to hunt in winter is hare. They make nests above ground, unlike rabbits that burrow. It makes them easier to find. However, you’ve got to have a very sharp eye – their fur turns white to hide them in the snow.” I slowed then as we grew closer to the lake, where there were a few clumps of bushes, a prime place for a hare to hide. I stopped, motioning for him to do the same. I would wait for him to spot a hare before going into detail about an attack plan. This was his hunting lesson, after all, and I thought he would be more than capable of spotting a camouflaged hare.

Although my attention was primarily focused on the boy beside me, I was constantly aware of our surroundings. The wide open snowy plain of the fields would make it hard for anyone to sneak up on us, but I was wary none the less. The first time I had brought a young one away from the pack lands, a feral wolf had descended upon us and cut our lesson short. That would not be happening today if I could help it.

OOC NOTE: This is meant to be a powerthread, meaning posts should be between 200-500 words and in quick succession. If history is any indicator, we're probably going to be receiving some company. So I just wanted to make a note of that! Ta. x
