Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Winter, or Coldearth as Lamia liked to call it, had come to Moladion and with it came death. The trees bleed red, orange, brown, and even yellow as they shed their leaves. The waters froze solid and refused to let any access the life giving liquid. It horded it for itself as the world around perished. The sky darkened and tried to cry but it was just too cold and instead of tears small flakes of dust drifted down in a lazy fashion. There was something strange and beautiful about Coldearth and Lamia realized she loved it. It was her first winter and though she did not bound and prance around in the snow she did walk through it with a slight skip in her step. Today was now different. She moved away from Glorall towards the river and lake to the north. Riopat, her mentor, had sent her to find some herbs for their ever low supply. The white wolf claimed that there were some roots and such that still thrived through Coldearth but Lamia was doubtful. Still, she did as she was instructed and moved inland.

Burdock root. That's the name of the herb she had to get but finding the damn plant was hard when everything was white! Nose to the ground, the demoness tried to find the shrub by the bitter smell the root often had but it was proving to be rather difficult. Frustrated she lifted her nose from the snow with an angry snort and gazed around the flat land. It was then that she saw she was not alone as a black figure moved in the distance. It looked like they were hunting and it was then that she realized how hungry she was. Perhaps the stranger would be kind enough to share a meal with her. It wasn't because she was a child, but because she was a princess of Iromar. Who wouldn't feel the need to help her when she wanted it?

It wasn't until the wind shifted and a familiar scent reached her nose that she knew who the wolf was. It had been a long time since she had seen her brother and how could she forget him? They spent the first moments of their lives huddled together. With a happy wag of her tail, Lamia approached Nogitsune. "Hello, brother! It has been a long time since I have seen you. How are you? What new of home?" The child had been away from Iromar for a long time and the news of her brother's death had not yet reached her one good year. As far as she knew, nothing could be better in the swamps lands. How wrong she was.

Lamia
