The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Why won't theyhelp me

The older she grew, the worse she became. The cycle was never-ending, and Corde still remained silent, even as her world began to crumble and disintegrate as though acid had been poured all through out it. The now teen often found herself sleepless at night, twitching as she attempted to pin the shadows that danced at the corner of her gaze with her pale stargazers, or body tensed as sounds travelled to her auds. A small piece of her mind knew them to not be truth, as there was no way her mother and brother would miss such things, but they seemed very real to her. It took all her effort not to wail as her and her family travelled, and for the briefest of seconds she would feel contact along her spine or flank, only turning to find herself near no one. Yes, the girl still remained quiet, refusing to alert her family to the steady deterioration. Who knew what they may do...Pity her? Chase her away? Corde was not eager to discover the possibilities.

She was aware they were travelling to a pack, and the fact made her stomach twist and turn. She did not want to go to these strange lands, full of strange untrustworthy ones who surely intended to do harm. However, she knew she could not argue against it, and so she complied, doing her best to mask her feeling of complete and utter betrayal and disapproval. If nothing else, it would wound her brother, her protector, something she did not wish. Instead, she offered him a weak smile as they set off, swallowing the steadily rising bile in her throat.

She trailed along behind, careful not to let her family out of her sight. When her mother came to her with gentle tones, the girl nodded emptily. What happened when her mother could no longer fulfil that promise she wondered. She watched as her maid and sibling exchanged words, feeling jealously rise within her once more. They would never include her in the important conversations, never consult her. Corde knew why, she knew the way they perceived her. It hurt; she wished she was brave and fierce and strong like Felan.

Her signal to halt came, and she brushed against her brother slightly, comforted by the sense of protection it offered her. Gazing off into these lands, every other emotion was washed away to be replaced by the steady growing fear. She could scent blood, tainting the air. Death. Her heart fluttered in her chest. She did not want to die here, her blood staining the soil, feeding the foliage. Orbs widening she glanced to her family, feeling the panic rising in her chest reflected in them. She wanted to leave, run, flee. She was not safe here.

Once I was an angel;
a dark angel, yes,
but an angel
all the same.
I helped people.
I loved people.
But even angels
can be broken.
Now,
I'm nothing more
Than a shadow.

Please dear godjust save me...
