At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Having nothing to occupy his mind lead Rodan to allow memories to flow freely. Usually they were good ones; ones he'd made here. Today, however, something had shook free the memories of his past. He remembered his father, full of rage, upon finding out his mate was dead. His father was nothing more than a blur to Ro, but he remembered all the fear that he had brought to his son. This was the first time he'd met Tempest, his brother. The one their father wanted to lead. Tempest was nothing like their sire. He felt bad for his little brother, even though he had pretended not to around their father. He had to stand by and watch the abuse that the king inflicted on his younger son. Ro's mother was all that had prevented him from doing so otherwise but her death left him to do whatever he wished. Though the memories were only flashes, snippets of the real events, they were enough to assure him he'd made the right choice in leaving. No doubt, his father had been overjoyed at this.

Rodan knew why these nightmares were buried deep in his mind. Somethings were not meant to be remembered. Like his father, who had caused so much fear he had been all but erased from the boy's knowledge. All he knew was that Kahn hated him. That was all he needed to know. The ivory brute looked down at his reflection. Kahn had assured him repeatedly that he looked nothing like his father, but Ro wasn't stupid. They had to have some similarities. Half of his genes were taken from the man after all. Tempest, he was told, took after his parents. Green eyes like his mother, a black coat like his father. He was perfect save a white chest that their father chose to overlook. Hell, Rodan wasn't even possible by all accounts. His uncle always said he looked more like his mother. That he had her bone structure in his face. That was hardly comforting, but it was better than nothing.

A rough voice pulled him from his reverie, What is this place called? Ro looked up at the stranger; an ebony brute standing tall and proud, a dominant air to him. He looked.... Oddly familiar and yet nothing in Ro's straining brain clicked. Perhaps he just looked like someone he'd met ages ago. "Staircase Falls." he said warily. "What's it to you?"
