The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Dark, dark! The Horror of darkness, like a shroud, wraps me and bears me on through mist and cloud. -Sophocles

He was bored of Taviora.

Nothing happened in that place that was interesting. The most fun he had had all summer was finding that poisonous mushroom and leaving it outside of the den for Ellie to eat; how pleasant it had been to see her hacking and whimpering and crying over the very things she professed to love so much. Plants. She was crazy and he would cure her off it no matter what it took. Not that he was complaining. He seemed to get a sick sort of enjoyment from watching her torment and then she would come scraping at his paws again, begging him for attention, eager to please him. It was addicting. He would reward her with small moments of kindness before beating her down once more. Never in front of his mother or Sarabi. They didn't approve of his vile behavior, but as he grew bigger he wondered. Would they ever stop him? COULD they stop him? No. By the time they realized he had Ellie under his control he would be too large for them to do anything. He did love Sarabi to the marrow of his bones and was fiercely loyal to her - but she would come to his side of things. She always did. Banshee, well... she didn't matter so much.

Already he stood about 22 inches and weighed close to ninety pounds. His body was built lean just like his fathers though his ribs looked rather prominent no matter how he ate. And Underidge ate a lot. He was ravenous always, consuming whatever he could and then stealing what he could from his sister. So easy to please she was, eager for his smiles and praise.

So he had decided to finally cut ties with Taviora, for the day at least, and traipse into the unknown world to stretch his lengthening paws. It was nice, his growing body. He couldn't quite hide beneath bushes anymore to do his dirty work but at least he could tower over his sisters if needed. His silver body passed through the trees with a silent ease and yet the animals grew quiet - they could sense his taint. There was something not quite right about Underidge, from the silver hairs and equally silver eyes to the flecks of black that peeked through beneath his coat. Underidge seemed almost like a banshee of sorts. Funny really considering his mothers namesake.

His ears prick as he catches the sound of pawprints nearby and he angles himself towards them, fearless and with a swayed, laid back walk of one who has the utmost confidence in themselves. The sight of the auburn and coal male makes his hackles raise slightly - he is larger than Underidge for the moment and older. But he is out of Taviora to learn more of the world, is he not?

"Want to hunt?" Underidge is blunt. He hasn't met the male, doesn't know the male, but if the male can hunt decent then he could be on Underidge's team. Really, it all came down to skills; not names, not prestige, just skill. And in the hunt he will judge what character this male has, for if he is some simpering plant pansy like his sister, he might just try to cull him. The world could not handle more than one - correction, Underidge could not handle more than one. His lips peel back from his maw in a smirk that resembles much of a sneer before he slinks away, casting a glance back at the male to see what he would do even as his steps flush a rabbit from a nearby bush.

one - male - alone - taviora - enderly x banshee
