Danny watched - while trying not to look like he was watching - as Khasekhemwy nibbled at the pie. He sure seemed hungry! Danny made a mental note to pick up more food next lesson, which he hoped would be scheduled sooner this time, both for the sake of his lessons and because the god sure seemed like he could use some looking after, at least until they figured out a way to return the magic!

Danny almost regretted his question when Khase's expression grew dismayed. Like most of Shaman's citizens, the idea that a god - particularly this god, whose life was dedicated to knowledge - had lost some of their innate abilities like the mastery of languages was inconceivable. It seemed like the sort of thing that would just... sort of be there. But Khasekhemwy seemed to brighten as he looked over one of the tomes, and Danny visibly relaxed. Not that he would have been offended if the god chose to direct him in another project, but he'd been rather proud of himself for trying so hard lately.

"Oh, that makes sense," Danny said, flushing a bit. He ought to have thought of that, shouldn't he? At least Khase didn't seem disappointed by the question. Danny frowned and shook his head at the god's next question. "No, sayedy, I don't know how. It seems like it'd be useful though!"
