The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

In truth Aithne could be a most provincial creature. She was prone to moments of intense laziness where the confines of her den was sufficient enough to make her day agreeable. Knowing the beyond was not something she strived to do. She had only traveled to Molodian in the first place because her homeland had become so inhospitable it was either continue a life of struggle and starvation or begin anew in a more fertile place. Molodian was indeed a most fertile land with it's over abundance of vegetation, prey, and suitable habitats. The earth here did not freeze so strong as it did back home in the winter time. The prey here was not so scarce that it too was nothing but a pile of pones buried beneath patchy fur. Everything was at once different and exotic.

She watches this sea girl before her with curious green eyes for it seems that Vesper finds her presence interesting. The few wolves she had met outside of Iromar were not terrified of the demon creatures, nothing like the whispers she had heard. Sometimes stories were more off base than the truth. Andras did not ever get out of Iromar that she knew of except when he brought back Avery. What is to be scared of when the demon King himself is tucked away with his throne of rotted meat and bones?

"I would like to try a sea fish one day then," she answers with her own smirk of a smile. Trying new foods was a favorite past time of hers even though she had very little urge to scout out the world. Vesper suddenly rises as if something has startled her. Aithne's body goes still as she watches the pale girl with hooded eyes, waiting as Vesper begins to slink across the cave. When she looks back to verify that Aithne is coming she unwinds her black body from her seated position to follow after Vesper.

Seating herself next to the girl she lets her words take over. Her eyes move across the dense darkenss of the cave trying to pick out the cave wall from teh shadows but finding herself unable to do so. "I like to know what is around me and where it all goes." Her voice is honest and complete. There is always that wonder of what could be out there but she does not like that. The known is much better than the unknown in her opinion. The sea would be a vast expanse for a lonely mind.

It is almost goofy the grin on her face, so much so that Aithne cannot help but smiling back in amusement. Vesper obviously loved her home. There would be no trying to lure her back to the swamp lands for she imagined the girl would miss Glorall and the sea too much even if that was possible. It was also nice to learn of things that she had no knowledge of. A seal sounded delicious and a grab too, if a bit more complicated to catch, and her ears are attuned to Vesper perfectly. "I would like to try them," she admits with her tongue flicking out across her maw.

Now her own smile turned into a smirk as the conversation shifted in her direction. "They are like lizards but much much bigger and nasty. They hiss like a snake almost and are wicked fast. The only quick way to kill one is to get under their throat but it is hard with their bodies pressed flat to the earth. I suspect they have been around much longer than we have on this earth. We have snakes aplenty in the marshes. They try to steal eggs of the water birds that nest on the banks, but I am quicker than them." Her eyes gleam with her own sort of delight in the storytelling. "The fish are very bland, probably worse than what you think of the fish here in the caves or the rivers. The dirty water can leave a nasty taste in the mouth. Have you ever had a beaver or swamp deer? They are quite succulent. I wonder how they would compare to your crabs."
