The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Draven

I'm Your Worst Nightmare Dressed as your Day Dream

The time had finally come for his revenge upon the she-wolf who had ravaged his body with scars and embarrassed him in front of their peers and packmates. Did it matter to him that he had been the ring-leader behind the group who had incessantly tormented the poor girl, taunting her for her sexual preferences and ganging up on her to try to beat it out of her? No, not at ll. All that he cared about was that she had somehow flipped the tables. Whereas before all of the pups had beaten her into the ground, she somehow had beat all of them at once, scarring them with her daggers in revenge for the injuries that they had placed upon her, forever marring her facade. But it was Draven who had taken the majority of her rage and fury, for he had been the instigator. The others had rallied behind him. Without his leadership, perhaps none of the events would have come to pass. But they had... and so here he was now.

Draven had been patient and methodical about planning his revenge against Halina. He had spent years first with healers, learning about herbs to heal... and then had come the more difficult part of his plan. He had search far and wide in order to seek out the darker vargs - the ones who lived, not hid, in the shadows. They were often hired to end others lives silently... they, too, were herbologists but they hurt, not healed. Dealing with them had been treacherous, but he had appeased them through unspeakable tasks and in return they had shared key knowledge with him that cooperated with the knowledge he had acquired earlier. He had first learned antidotes... now he had the full grasp of poison as well.

When it had come to choosing a single poison, it had been difficult to choose for sure - there were many variables. It needed to have an antidote he could ingest beforehand to prevent his own sickness and demise... It needed to cause a slow and painful death, and it needed to be able to be transmitted into her bloodstream through a bite. Thus he had settled upon one that they referred to as Lucifer's Tears - it stung at first but then numbed the nerves as it travelled... only until it began to wreck havoc upon the organs. They would slowly start to deteriorate causing immense pain and seizures... and she would be awake for all of it for it stimulate the center of consciousness. She would scream til the very end.

More than that it was a rare plant, and the antidote was just as rare. Few, if any, healers would recognize the signs and he doubted the plant grew in these lands, and it looked like an unassuming weed anyway. Thus had he ingested the antidote and then crushed and chewed Lucifer's Tears, coating his whole mouth til it was stained red, grinning wickedly as the tingling began to set it. It would enter his blood, but the antidote would prevent it from entering tissues - it would be flushed from his system over the next day. Running full into the terra where he had watched her for the past few days, he howled, knowing that she was currently running her patrols, and sure enough she collided with him, knocking him to the ground. Laughing maniacally, he rolled and lunged at her, grasping her upper leg and shaking his head til he felt blood wet his mouth...

How he wished to destroy her with his own teeth, but as he expected, she had maintained all of the training her father had imparted upon her and she grasped his scruff, pulling with all her might as she ran backwards, whipping her head to swing his form into a boulder. He felt no pain as the numbness still remained, but the shock of the impact loosened his grip enough for her to regrip. She readjusted her own body, jumping over him so that this time, it would be his head that slammed into the boulder, effectively knocking him unconscious.

Pausing long enough to catch her breath, she spread her nares, inhaling deeply to catch Kershov's scent, and began to drag the limp form that way. She didn't recognize him, for he had grown in shape and form. Halina thought nothing of the way her leg tingled, assuming it was related to the adrenaline rushing through her system. The way would be long, especially with her leg which perhaps was fractured, but she would present the intruder to her Ice King. His punishment would come soon enough.
