Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

the order of the world is disorder

It had been the water that had first caught his attention; no matter how faint it was, the scent was sharp, almost rancid, biting his nose as he lowered his black muzzle for a drink. It had hit him hard enough to make him recoil slightly in disgust and surprise, head shooting up after the realization of the contamination of the water he was about to lap.

It took little more than a heartbeat for his broad muzzle to tip further into the wintery air, head turning to point his flared nostrils upstream to catch a few of the many scents that drifted ever closer. His paws were quick to follow suit, thick limbs carrying him to round the small bend that lay between him and the scene of the disaster. With each step closer curiosity pricked his pads deeper and hastening his lengthy march as the voices, along with the words they spoke, became clearer and the scents easier to pick up. It did not take long for their faces to come into view either, the natural veil overtaken and allowing the large brute's seafoam gaze to take in the entirety of the event.

A mass had gathered, most seeming to crowd at the sandy bank while a select few stood in the river's current or dotted the outskirts as he did. The soldier watchrd as one lapped and the water and one streaked back to the safety of the wood, watched as another tore through the crowd to snap up a chunk of the dead elk, unmarred before the wolf's teeth found it and broke it open. A few others had similar ideas, with a particular female and male seemed to have a short spat over the carcass, all of these canines ignoring the murmurs even Brahm could hear about the water and the flesh being tainted.

By what, he could not pick out. But, what he did was the challenge of a large white male, asking of those gathered who would help move the mammoth beast.

The dull hued brute's tongue itched within his mouth, begging him to call out. And it had little fight to have its way, black jaws parting to speak up only to be interrupted by an equally big black and white creature and then the brindle who had pushed back the smaller female. For the moment he remained silent in observation of the three males, particularly the instigator who had shrugged and began his move on the elk, but his barely hidden excitement forced him to break from his statuesque pose and allowed his dark tail to rise and his black-capped limbs to carry closer once again.

The short distance was crossed quite quickly with one last scan given to the crowd before all attention returned to the elk, the white brute, and the task he was to accept, large, splashing paws finally placing himself beside the fallen creature's head.

"I will gladly offer my services, and, if I may, the thick fur around his neck would be best to grab to avoid breaking skin." His bright gaze swept across the sodden body as he spoke in his gravel tones, a mild frown tugging at one corner of his polite facade at the water weight the four of them would have to face along with the whole of the bull - minus what little had been torn by the heedless of the crowd. "A hoof or antler may also be a good place to grab, but they will provide less purchase."

His advice was followed by the arch a white brow as he glanced in the direction of the red breasted and tuxedo brutes, seeking approval or input. With or without it, he turned his head back to the white one with something akin to mischief and glee glowing faintly in the very depths of his eyes.

"But, I'll be willing to call out 'ho' whenever you order 'heave', capt'n. I'm ready and awaiting your call."
