Falls

So entranced by the hypnotic movement of the petals in the water, the young grey stallion hardly noticed when a dark presence approached and stopped very near him. 'Amazing', the presence said, and without thinking or tearing his eyes away from the pool, Konrad replied simply, "Yeah."

He failed to notice the voice was commenting on his appearance rather than the blossoms dancing in the water.

It even took a few heartbeats for him to realize he had just spoken to someone, and when Konrad turned his head to gaze with dark eyes at the stranger beside him, his expression was openly surprised. He was not frightened, however, for it was only a girl. The girl smiled at him and expressed interest in standing with him there on the banks of the falls.

He was confused. Why would a pretty girl want to do that?

He shifted his pale body to get a better look at her, disturbing his floral cape in the process. She was dark brown, almost black, with feathers on her hocks and a sweet expression on her face. Konrad was too captivated by that sweet expression to speak at first, but eventually something clicked in his mind. He knew those feathers. He knew that expression.

"I've met you before," he proclaimed, speaking with characteristic slowness.
