The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

They had similiarities in youth, though Riot wouldn't know it just by looking at her. His own parents had tossed him aside, sent him away to live with those who did not feel right, who only made him more bitter. In the back of his mind he remembers a face, but then he doesn't at the same time. Like he couldn't conjure it up on his own, but he would know it if he saw it. Riot held onto that fact, held it firmly because if ever he had the chance to say something, then he'd want to. Then again he couldn't be certain as to what he would want to say when the time came. He tried to ignore the matter when he could, because it did him no good to dwell on the past. It had happened and Riot needed to just let it fade.

But the effects of it would never really go away, and he would always feel the sting of it when anything hinted at the subject. There was no way around those feelings and that truth, because it was so ingrained into who he was, how he had gotten to this point. Maybe why he had gotten here with these goals at all. It had made him this way, and that wasn't exactly a good thing. And it wasn't likely to change. It gave him a drive to be better, to try and become more or die trying. To find a place for himself with the lack of bloodlines to guide him and get him anywhere. He was going to rely on himself, because he was really all that he had. That would make him better than those with silver spoons at birth, right?

He has no miracle to give, nothing to really offer at this point in time to anyone. This was his start, his venture into what should be and all that he wanted. He would work for it, strive more and more. Except he still needed to join a pack. Still had to decide which one would be where he could get the most out of. He hoped it would be soon, but he wasn't one to just jump into things. Not like that. Still, he's still attentive enough on the female who stands there, who tells him that she used to live in Glorall until the new king took over, and had to go to Spirane with her deaf sister. The words have his mind ticking away, of course. He wasn't sure why she would think of it that way, and hadn't noticed such a thing to be a problem when there by the speech..

This he could tell her, could explain his views on what he knew of the new leader and the situation itself. "They need to pull their weight there, but she could still hunt, still fish, still patrol the border and call for someone if she spots a possible joiner without needing to hear." He says all of this calmly, as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. If the deaf one could do those things, then she would be considered worth something to the pack. If there was a will there was a way, so he did not see a reason as to why being deaf was such a burden. It didn't have to be that bad. It was what they made of it. Cinder, she says her name is. "I'm Iscariot." He offers in return. Might as well, right?
