Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

They try to remember, but still they forget
That the heart beats in three's
Just like a waltz
and nothing can stop you from dancing
The sun filtered gently into the opening of my den, peeling my eyes open from the sleep that had once caged them. I tried to blink away the sleep that still lingered in my icy gaze like every other morning, but found it particularly difficult today. The morning was cool, but far warmer than it had been, for winter no longer reigned in Moladion. The annual coup d'etat of seasons had brought spring back to power once more. While winter still desperately tried to keep the land under an icy grip, it could not match the strength and willpower of the new life that burst from the thawed ground. For most creatures, it was just another spring to celebrate, but for me, it would be an entirely different spring.

My stomach appeared ready to burst from the puppies that lay waiting within for their chance at life. I did not know much of pregnancy, but instinct told me that soon these puppies would make their way into the world. I couldn't swallow the fear that itched at the back of my throat, the uncertainty for events to come; if there were to be complications, if the puppies would grow up okay without a father. These questions nagged at me and kept me hidden away within the confines of my warm, safe den, away from prying eyes and questions.

And then it hit me all at once as I attempted to roll myself up and move out of the den, a sharp pain in my abdomen. It was an entirely new sensation, but I immediately recognized the pain to be that of birth. A whine escapes my lips as another contraction rolls through my body. It hurt, but it wasn't unbearable, more uncomfortable than anything else. I tries not to panic, but with an increase in my heart rate and breathing came an increase in my fears. I lifted my head and let a howl roll from my den, calling to Sleekwing, Daenerys, anyone that would come and be there, help me. Until they came though, I was on my own.

I began to roll with the constant cycle of contractions, almost picking up a rhythm to it. I tried to find my roots on the tundra and block out the pain, but fear let it slip back in. And then I felt the small form slide out from between my legs, and, without thought, I let instinct kick in. I quickly and gently grabbed the small pup in the moment of peace between contractions. I began to clean the little boy, applying slight pressure with my tongue until I heard him squeak and whine, meaning he was okay. I made sure he was spotless and active before I pulled back to look at my child, my boy. He was white with cream markings akin to those of shivershade. He would be a strong, handsome young boy when he was older I was sure. I smiled down at him as he squirmed around before gently picking him up and placing him at my stomach to nurse.

And then the contractions started again before I knew it, the peace and calm disappearing once more. Another was coming I was sure, but how many in total would I have? I placed my head on the ground, feeling each contraction and waiting for the next puppy. I found comfort in the presence of my first born, his easy arrival easing some of my nerves. Maybe things would be okay, now that I wasn't entirely alone. My breathing and heart rate was still frantic as I pushed in order to get the puppy our quicker and spare myself the pain. And with a little plop, the next puppy fell behind me. I gently reach back once more and scoop the puppy up, placing the little girl between my paws. I gently clean her off, listening to her squeak and whine in protest. My icy eyes stare down at her, her chocolate brown coat like that of the ground, yet touched with the frost of the tundra. The most noticeable part of her were the white flecks upon her cheeks that resembled stars. I smiled and gently picked her up, placing her beside her brother to nurse.

I sighed in content, feeling the contractions ease until I didn't feel them at all. "He shall be named Cadwan and she shall be Kirsikka," I say, my voice a hum of love and pride. I curl my large fluffy form around them to keep them warm and safe. My body is sore and exhausted from the birth. My eyes closed as I listened to the whimpers and breathing of my children. I simply couldn't drift off to sleep though with their tiny warm bodies pushed up against mine, I was too happy.

{Mother to- Cadwan and Kirsikka}

Love what you have, and you'll have more love
You're not dying
Everyone knows you're going to love
Though theres still no cure for crying
