Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

I'll love you for a thousand more...
This is where her story begins.

Not with a fairy godmother watching over her, but curled up in her mother's mouth like a fist protesting death. Though the air was cold, her mother's breath seemed too hot. She wouldn't know it, but her mother was purposely trying to get lost. Because things that are lost seem to always be found and she wanted nothing more than for her only child to be found, to be given a chance to soar on imaginary wings. It was her last gift to the child who would not remember her if she survived, the sharp end to a knife that she held to her heart and away from her daughter; to not watch her child grow, find love, have pups, was a fate worse than death.

The stars were calling her home, and soon enough she would have to answer. She walked through a field of flowers between guardians of the forest that watched her paint the ground scarlet with each step. Maybe it is that they took pity upon the small child who's whimpers were battle cries to her ears, for the forest seemed to whisper of the impending death of the mother and open their arms to welcome her soul. And after miles of walking on what would be her last leg, she finally fell, the painful truth of death ringing like a bell in her head and its gentle kiss taking her final breath.

The warmth that had surrounded the small girl was swept away with the cool spring morning breeze. Her tiny stomach screamed for food that she couldn't seem to find on the map that is her mother's body. She squirms in the soft, plush fur, smelling her mother but not the food that she so desperately needed through the rich iron of blood. Small, scarlet eyes peaked open ever so slightly for the first time before becoming lost in a sea of light. The world, she had decided, was too bright, and she did not like it.

She was ignorant to the fact that the cold hand of death still lingered over her. She lay next to what would be seen as simple carrion to other predators, and she a simple snack. Her whimpers and cries, while good intentioned, only placed her in more peril be serving to tempt in unwelcome investigators.
