Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

We laughed at fate and mourned her;

The love between a Mother and a Daughter was lost upon the grisly creature that stalked through the Riverside. Her own flesh and blood was not important to her. Her very existence was from her need to get rid of the weakling male that had somehow been entwined with her own soul. With her former imprint dead and gone his weakness had yet to be fully exterminated. Her own child carried half of his blood and her presence was something she did not want. Each spring she caught the familiar scent of her child leaving the swamp territories. Her daughter was constantly searching for her, why she did not know, but she had no desire to see her pup. So, she made sure that she kept herself well hidden in order to keep her child far away from her, because of her own apparent selfish reasons. A child never understands the sacrifice a parent does for their own child.

Lately she had been roaming through the Riverside providing a false trial for the child she knew would follow. Her dark mind wandered to the last time she was here. One winter’s night brought to her a she-wolf that had danced with flames and lost a significant amount of her hide, her physical appearance, and the majority of her pride. The charred wolf still had some fight within her even though Death’s cold grasp was slowly closing in. Sadly though her meal was taken away from her by some pup. She would have attacked him and given herself two tasty morsels, but for some reason she had felt something inside her scream out with such abhorrence. It had pulled at her soul forcing her to retreat. The need to live, the need to keep herself safe and out of harm’s way was something she had never cared before, until now. She was attached to a new beast his dark soul entwined with her own, both pulling at one another to be close, and yet both wanting to be far away. Today though she did not feel him near and so she could walk without having a stalker for a change.

The sound of something flopping in the river caught her attention as walked silently over towards the small hill that looked over the rushing river. Cold sapphire eyes narrowed as she noticed the wiggling form of a young wolf that hardly caught up to adulthood just yet. Ears pointed forward as she noticed the helpless creature struggle to get to the bank. The creature was lying their motionless. With no one around the dark grisly creature should upon the edge like a Guardian Angel. Massive paws easily find her grip as she quietly took herself down moving slowly towards the fallen creature. There was hardly a fiber of sympathy in her eyes as she looked up to the pup. Black lips drew back as a low snarl erupted from her throat. Before the almost lifeless pup had a chance her massive paws were placed firmly on the girls back, pinning her down, as another paw rose to push the girl to lie on her back, while the other paw that once pinned her down at her back, began to pin her down to her chest. With another low growl those same black lips pulled back to reveal her sharp teeth as she dug down onto the girls shoulder, ignoring how the girl below would wiggle and whimper. Her massive frame would place firmly on top of her, smothering her almost, as a back paw slid up and down her side and belly, her claws digging deeply into her.

The monster was allowed to have some fun with her new play toy. Slowly she would lift herself up to look at her bloody mess the scent of her blood staining the emerald grass was quite intoxicating. It had been such a long time before she was able to actually hear the cries of pain coming from her victim. Long pink tongue would flicker out of her muzzle like a serpent as she washed the side of her scarred muzzle to lap up some of the blood. A twisted thought occurred in her head as she moved to the other side of the smaller lupine as she grabbed at the girls’ tail, tugging it as if she were in the mood to get the girl to ‘play.’ For surely girl that was carved along her underside would be willing with such a thing. Each time she tugged on the girls tail, her muzzle would travel lower and lower, her teeth puncturing the flesh each time, her head jerking back and forth as if to make the appendage loosen it. It would take such a long agonizing time until part of the girls tail was actually bitten off. With the now loose appendage in her mouth the creature would stalk slowly towards the girl, cold azure eyes narrowing on her severely injured victim. Hardly would anyone dare to come to the painful cries of another in fear of their own life. Dropping the tail for a later use she would throw herself onto the pup as her teeth met flesh again at the shoulder, biting down before her heated breath would slow down.

A low growl rumbled within her scarred chest as her clawed face was shoved into the ebony and gold she-wolf. Those blazing azure pools of ember glowered from her two sockets as the sun above was blotted out by her face, a promise that the young one wouldn’t need the sun anymore. Bloodied pink tongue would lick the side of the girls’ face in almost a tender gesture the last one she would ever feel within her short life. This sick and twisted game would sadly not be over so very soon. Instead it would take a while this the Monster was sure of. While everyone else knew about her imprint these lands barely knew her at all. She was nothing more than a shadowed ghost, a legend within other lands, and a complete nobody here. Those sharp teeth would begin to crunch down on the girls’ left ear relishing in the sounds and sharp cries of the girl, her frame still keep the girl held down, as she happily chewed on the girls’ ear pondering on just when and how she would take the life of this insignificant whelp.
