Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

I stopped just over the border line, eyes of violet gold turned upward to marvel at the towering trees above, white and silver frame so very small beside them even though I had grown these past few weeks and months, my yearling body gangly and gawky and honestly a little detracting from my overall appearance, as if it tried to hide the perfection of my long limbs and evenly muscled frame behind this deluded look of ungainliness I truly did not feel showed off exactly how fine I was to the eye. Oh well, I suppose this stage won’t last long- maybe I should try running up hills more to bulk up my muscles a bit, although that seems an awful lot of effort. I had climbed the Spirane mountains though and I think that is deserving of a prize all it’s own- but I feel myself getting off track. I was here to see Taviora today, our sister pack, or so I am told and the home of cousins Solaris and Shiloh although I had never met either of them. I’d heard about them though and I decided to see their home, after all that would only leave me with Glorall to see before I could claim to have visited every pack- the thought of such success pulling my lips into a grin as I wandered further forward, eyes lifted upward to marvel at the trees once more as I did. I should have brought Orfiel with me, he would liked all these leaves, my own gaze scowling as one threatened to land atop me, form dancing lightly to the side before continuing on.

This was a nice pack, maybe even nicer then Hyrule Field- maybe I should make this my pack instead and rename it something far more exciting then Taviora- what is that anyway? Nothing. A made up word, at least, it sounds like a made up word. I’d have to ask about that. If it was up to me I think I’d name it the Lost Woods pack- because I think I’m pretty lost, maybe Faron words because they are damn far from where I came from. I grinned loosely at my own internal monologue, evidently content to find myself amusing as white paws strode across the earth and over the mossy, damp ground beneath the trees. I don’t think I’d like quite SO many trees though, they detracted from the overall appearance. Solaris and Shiloh could keep their pack and be spared my almighty wrath. What? Why can’t it be almighty? Someone has to be mighty don’t they?

I could scent other wolves, a lot of other wolves and yet I hadn’t run into any yet, no border patrol having come passed like it would in Diveen. Although I think that is because Isola is…how you say…paranoid. I don’t really blame my aunt, they say she has even been to war, that she has fought off more challenges then any other in recent years and that she and Uncle Kane had defeated them all, for such is the power of Angels. Maybe I will have to tell her not to worry so much, after all, I’ve seen what’s out there, I’ve travelled from Diveen (without Mother and Father’s permission exactly), I’ve seen the other packs and the next generation, the young ones, like me and as far as I can tell she really does not need to be worried. I liked those boys from Spirane, I even liked that girl from Iromar- sort of. Only the girls in Asteraia had been mildly dislikeable and yet even then, were they something to be worried about? I doubt it. They angered too quickly to be intelligent, or so I thought. Isola should probably lessen the border patrols- maybe one day when I get to be in charge I’ll do just that. Though for now I have far more pressing matters other than my eventual kingship. I’d look good a throne I think.

I could smell Solar I was sure, or maybe it was Shiloh, that scent of Isola and Kane lingering upon the earth, a scent I smelt each day and yet it was lost in so many others I could barely follow it, a slight touch of worry coiling within my chest at the thought that maybe I was more lost then I realised, surely someone would come by soon, right? At least I haven’t seen any mushrooms yet. Never liked mushrooms, not since Belhara. It was the sudden cracking sound that made me look up, birds exploding into the sky as the violet gold of my gaze narrowed slightly at the screeching sound they made before something decided to plummet toward me, eyes widening suddenly at the realisation of the falling tree branch as I scrambled frantically sideways in a manner not befitting anyone of my blood.

“Hiyah!”

It was more of a tuck and roll really, shouting as I did as the limb collided with the ground and my heart hammered in my chest. It had only just missed me….just….by inches at best.

“Is this because I renamed your forest?”

I suppose I was speaking to the tree branch, after all, it had just attempted the murder of myself. No- this pack was not one I was going to earmark for the future, murderous trees and loud birds are not at all entertaining, although I found myself curious of the limb all the same- one paw reaching forward to press against it, rocking it slightly, flinching back suddenly at the sounds it made before grinning and tapping at it again in game of sorts. I wonder if they’d be cross with me about the tree, did these wolves keep track of trees?

“Sorry I broke your tree? I mean, I just found it like that. It did try to kill me.”

I sounded the excuses out loud, attempting to discover the best of them before someone arrived to question my about it

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
