Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Alcmene had stayed behind, and Los had his own things to do. Her mothers had gone somewhere, likely annoyed about all the change. Her father still stayed in Spirane, so she always had that option. Still, everybody else had plans. She, on the other hand, had literally no plans at all. In fact, she had become a vagrant ever since the power change. At first, she had drifted around the forests, snuffing out rabbit holes and chewing on leftover scraps. It had been fun, at least, but not exactly easy to live such a life. Still, she had at least seen improvements within herself. She could be quiet now, dead silent, and damn quick too. Honestly, she had started to feel almost guilty with having improved her skills and yet still having lacked in any sense of direction. It seemed like such a waste! At least she was having fun, though. Or something akin to it, at least.

Winter had been a little less fun, though. She had remained in the forest for most of its duration, though with spring now heavily upon them, she had emerged and traveled south-west for no particular reason. It just felt right - plus, she wanted to look up at the mountain. See if she could, well, see her father or something. She didn't really know. Mostly, she just had an urge to get out from beneath the forest's canopy and see the damn sun. It had been so long, after all! And so she had arrived in the middle of the day, when the sun baked the grass that stretched out to the river. She had loitered in it for some time, meandering about and huffing at the scents.

Eventually, however, she found herself mid-yawn and with a fierce thirst. Her fur had not entirely shed out yet and thanks to it, she had felt the heat particularly well. Still, it was better than being cold. With a little wiggle, she loped across the fields and without question, directly into the river until the water rose to her elbows. She couldn't help but screw her face up a little at the way the water washed away from her a little dirty - apparently, who would have guessed, crawling around in the dirt and snow all winter did have some residual effects.

Well, so be it! She figured if she had any chance to see any of her family, she should at least look presentable. With the sun so high and warm, she had no qualms with ducking beneath the lazy waterflow. She had become accustomed to the water in Glorall and now, she found it almost fun to paddle out into the deeper areas, feeling the current wash over her back before she hurried back to the shallows once more. Over and over, until the water began to run clear once more.
