Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

how long will we blame the devils on our shoulders
and pose like angels on the outside

I can tell she is nervous. She hides it, but she is still just a whelp. Even if she spent all her energy trying to conceal it, I would see through it like any other creature: at this age, they are all but prey. Their fear reflects in the back of their eyes. Of course, I have expected it. I cannot hold her entirely responsible for what is otherwise an instinct. Still, I watch it closely. If the fear is too strong then I cannot help myself - I will give her a reason to feel it. They are my children, after all, constructed from half of me. If they are projections of my weakness then I will do what I do to weakness: erase it. For now, she is fine. She is a curiosity in herself.

When she mentions the other fathers, I cannot help but laugh. It is a quiet laughter, all too amused at her ignorance. With a fluid movement, I move back several short steps before I let myself slide and fall from the log. I land with a heavy thud, still some several feet away despite her attempts to gain closer ground.

"Does it make you feel like less to have no male chasing your mother around?" I press her for an answer, my brow rising in inquisition as I take a long stride towards her. "I do not live here. Why would I follow her?"

I lower my head to her level, raising both brows expectantly. I must admit, I do enjoy picking at such a young mind. I enjoy the internal struggle as they formulate a response. I enjoy testing their already formed ideas. Oh, how young they learn to see the world through a particular scope. I can only hope the other child will come. I wish to see what her mind is made of too.

"I asked who you are," I say this as I rise again, idly circling her, once more inspecting for any indication of weakness. "I did not ask you where you came from. Do you think that is all that makes a wolf?"

I come around to her front once more, pausing and waiting as patiently as ever. I cannot help but glance back to the borders every so often, however. After all, perhaps the other one will still come. Or perhaps Renai will come storming out, demanding answers that I will not provide.
