The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I Want a Flood; I Want an Ocean, to Wash my Confusion Clean

The young brute was not sure what to think of his new home. He had grown so used to his life traveling with his mother and siblings that staying in one place now felt weird. He did not fully understand the concept of packs and why one chose to live in one place for the rest of your life, pledging loyalty to one or two beings in power. Why not be your own boss and travel the world as he had been doing with his family? It seemed like the perfect life, no borders, no rules, no formalities. The young brute knew that he would not leave though. Even if he did not fully understand why he was living here his mother had told him and the rest of his siblings that they were to stay here, to live in the lands of Abendrot under the rule of Kershov, the king that ruled here. At first the idea made Aimery angry. He was sick of being told what to do, even by his mother, so why would he listen to someone else? Someone that he knew nothing about and did not trust? Why give his life to this mysterious Kershov?

But months had gone on and the brute did nothing but sit quietly in the lands of Abendrot, where he heard so many tales and rumors of the demons and monsters that resided in here. He found no evidence of this though, just other vargs like him that kept to themselves. Occasionally he would see two lupines together but usually he saw no one else but his siblings, and even then that was rare. The family had grown up close when they were still with Verity, but once they entered somewhere they knew was safe the 5 young lupines saw each other less and less. At first Aimery was sad when he did not see his family as often as he was used to, but he grew independent and learned how to care for himself. It really was not a hard task to hunt for one lupine, even a growing teen.

Hunting was one of the only things that the brute had to do to keep himself amused. Hunting and training were the only things that kept his attention when he was on his own. The white brujo did not know what else to do with his time when he was left to his devices. He worked hard every day, practicing fighting moves that his mother had taught him, stalking prey that sometimes was not even there, working his muscles until they were strong as any other in Abendrot. He may not be as large as the adult warriors that resided in the pack but he knew he would not lose a fight easily to them. Even though he did not fully understand the point to being in a pack, he figured if he was going to be in one he would make sure that he could be useful for whatever it was he was supposed to be doing.

It was during one of Aimery’s daily routine sessions of training when a bark from within the territory caught his attention. Even though he had not seen Kershov for months, since Verity had taken the family to Abendrot, he recognized the powerful vocals of the alpha. Unlike most wolves within a pack the foolish teen did not spring to his feet and run to the alpha’s call. He was in the middle of his training session that he had been doing every day for weeks and he did not want to change his routine for someone that he did not know why he had to listen to. After he continued his training for a little while it dawned on him that even though he might not understand it what he was doing was one of the most disrespectful things a pack wolf could do, ignoring the call of his leader.

Aimery quickly felt shame fill him at his petty actions, and he jumped to his paws, quickly running in the direction that he heard Kershov call from, hoping it was not too late to join whatever it was that was going on. As he slowed and approached the trees where he could scent the other vargs he looked on with wide-eyes, his green orbs scanning the area and seeing many lupines he did not know. How stupid of him to not come sooner. The entirely white brute could hear Kershov speaking, and he was afraid of interrupting the king, so he quietly waited in the brush for him to finish. He was able to easily spot his brother Amias in the mix of lupines, but no one else from his family was there yet. When the king’s speech was done Aimery quickly came through the trees, tail tucked between his legs in shame of being late, ears laid flat against his head. He looked at the titan that was the feared leader of Abendrot, the younger brute’s green orbs meeting his single black one. ”Sorry I’m late, sir.” He spoke quickly to the alpha before going over to his brother, sitting down next to Amias, wondering if his brother would sense his uneasiness.
