The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

the sweet
hath gone before
The trees here- they go up up up UP and I have to tilt my petite skull backward in half to be able to see them. Light toxic green eyes are wide in my wonder and imagination at the sheer immensity of them all, and all I want to do is dive into them head first and get lost. My fractured mind barely registers the scents that linger here, and even the border that is so obviously marked slips me by. I have one thing on the brain, and one thing only. I will find myself at the heart of the forest, and it shall be my home until the end of all time. Or until I am bored and go to find some other place for another grand adventure. Whichever might come first.

And so with my young naivety, as well as my over all lack of knowledge, I blunder into the territory of Abendrot unawares of the dangers posed to my small being and all that I stand for. I am still a child, not even yet fully grown- but even then I will never be large, never be strong. I am quick, however, the quickest anyone ever did see and out of sheer amusement and excitement my voice is suddenly then flung out at all the trees around me. Surprisingly, my youthful voice bounces back and my darkened ears of black that fit the hood atop my skull twitch in their listening. "In the forest I will be, until death may come for meeee!" My tones are sing song as much as they are rhyming, and a blissful giggle is pouring past my lips at the nonsense of it all. I am as carefree and unrestricted as they come, though I do not think in such manners. I am a simple girl, you see, with a simple life full of simple things.

The concept of danger is not one that I hold at all, and my small lithe frame is prancing and bouncing through the forest the deeper I make it. At last it would seem I've come to a break in the massive old foliage, one with a slight rise in the earth and immediately I am determined to reach the top. Small paws work to bring my equally small frame up the slope, by now my long pink tongue rolling out the side of my mouth to hang past my jaw. Quick pants grace the air before me, and green eyes are wild with intensity just as I break over the peak and make my stand. Nothing can stop me now, or bring me down, and I am the Queen of the Hill- showing just that as I throw my muzzle up to the sky and let loose a song of victory and valor. The russet on my face is akin to stains left behind by bloody tears, and in my current excited and energized state I must look like a lunatic. And I could not be any more happy for it.
