The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

At the call, I find myself on the move, loping easily toward the borders where Halina is calling. I recognize her voice from the meeting and I found her quite interesting. She seemed to take great interest in Kershov's play thing, Scarlet Nights, but I won't let that hold me back. I have yet to be impressed by the one who calls herself queen but maybe that's because I'm partial to the king I pledged my allegiance too. I'm a little greedy about my loyalties and until she has earned mine outright, I will think of her as nothing more than the puppet who turned out to be his lover. None the less, I won't hold it against Halina who she has in her sights as conquest. She kind of reminds me of another pretty wolfess who took sanctuary here so long ago. I cannot recall her name at this time but she was an assassin and a lovely one at that. We had quite a time joking around at others' expense and especially picking on the little prick of a she wolf, Aviias.

But away from that matter. As I find myself close to the borders where the call came from, I can scent two wolves here. The first is definitely Halina, her exotic perfume mixed with that of a stranger. A new recruit on the borders? Kershov will be pleased. My blue and green eyes glitter as I slow down and stalk toward them, tail arching over my spine to show my rank as Beta of Abendrot as I dip my head in greeting to Halina. "Willing to share your new chew toy, Halina? I dare say, he's decent looking." I pause, flashing the wolf a smirk as I tilt my head, taking him in as I study his physique and build. Would he make for a good warrior or is he more of a healer like Abendrot needs? I move forward, stepping right up to him until my nose is mere inches from his own. I inhale his musky cologne and that of the fish he was eating, my nose wrinkling some at the second scent as I step back.

"Fish is hardly the feast of a predator. You can do better. Where do your skill sets lie, stranger? And while we're at it, why don't you give me a name so I don't have to make one up for you? I'm Enigma." My hackles rise just a little, a warning that if he gives me reason, things won't look pretty. My tail lashes in the air like a whip, my body rippling with energy as I wait for his answer.
