Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

A Mask of Solitude [OPEN]

It had been three weeks since she left her home. She was weary of wandering aimlessly through the mountains and the forest. How she wished she could return to her home, to her parents... But no, it was better not to think about it. The pain of losing them was still too much. So she continued to pad wearily through the trees, steadily climbing towards the mountain shrouded in mist above her. She was constantly on the alert, half hoping and half afraid that she would meet other wolves in the forest. She had no energy for a fight, but she couldn't keep roaming aimlessly about. She needed to find a place to live.

Soul hesitated as she sensed movement to her right. Her black fur stood out against the white clumps of mist that drifted past her, so she crouched down low to keep out of sight. Her blue eyes searched through the mist, alert. She smelled prey, and she was hungry. A deer ambled into sight, nibbling at the young leaves that were in reach of its mouth. She waited for it to come closer to where she was crouched, but it sensed the danger somehow and turned to leap away. Soul lunged desperately after it, but it was no use. Hunting without a pack was difficult, and the more strength she lost the harder it became.

The weary wolf climbed higher and higher as the sun worked its way across the sky, burning some of the mist away. Soon she would be surrounded by snow, and finding prey would be impossible during the daylight hours. It would be better to rest until evening, when her fur would be hidden well by the darkness. Soul settled down by a large rock, where she would be largely hidden by any enemies. She closed her eyes, and rested.
