The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Covet prowled. There was that need to sate his urges that welled up within him, and he had taken to moving beyond Moladion just a bit in the early hours to find his specific type of prey. For now, that was how it had to be done. There would always be that difficulty in balancing what he was and he cravings, the fact that now he held a pack territory. Not much of an actual pack, but it was still something and he wasn't going to mess with it just now. But as time was going on, he was not sure if he was enough for the pack to thrive. This was something that he debated over in his mind, because the truth remained that he had never actually wanted to rule.

Bringing about change needed certain sacrifices, however. Covet had given up his spot in the craigs and went for it, because he knew he would rather do that than to let things go on as they had been. Finding someone else to take up the mantle if he wasn't fit for it; that would be a most difficult task for him. And, he supposed that those from the old pack would still be apt to messing with whomever it was that tried to rule. There was a lot to think about when it came to that. There had been a few things that he had expected that had not come to be, and he would still seek to find his lost children. There was quite a bit in all of this that Covet needed to consider.

For now, nothing was going to change. Later was another story, but the lull that settled over everything in Diveen was only good for him, not for the thriving of a pack. Part of him wondered if even that was enough to cause the change he wanted, and if it was, then good. Because he had started his own battle, and he figured it would keep going until they gave up or he did. Covet felt that he would keep going until the change worked, and only then would he let go of it. His own desires aside from that had to be looked into as well, and he had to weigh whether or not the situation he was in would be good or too risky for him to think more on those wants.

He was conflicted in these areas, but he did not show it. A loner trying to bring about a more healthy pack life for Diveen was not the best of plans, but he had to wait and see if there was anyone better for the job. Anyone who felt the same things as he did, who would be the right person. If he found someone that the others from before trusted, that could be a good break even. So long as they did not take down the change he wanted, Covet could deal with that kind of compromise. Time would tell, and thinking of all this on his journey back to Moladion didn't keep him in a good mood. Not a bad mood, exactly, but he certainly wasn't in a bright mood.

He had to pass by the outskirts of the grotto to return home, only momentarily paused when he saw the female lingering there. He told himself that he would only try to recruit if she seemed strong, and if she was weak, he would drag himself home without another thought on it. With that in mind, he moved closer to her. "Are you looking for something?" He asked, vocals venomously smooth. So far he could see no visible flaw to her, but that did not mean there was none. He just had to wait and see. Her face marks were at least interesting to him, so there was that.
