LONHRO: the night terror
zero / tobias x flare / loner
It is Lonhro that comes first, the ebony child loping smoothly through the grasslands that have become his home, emerald eyes fixated upon the land ahead as limbs that are steadily becoming gangly move to carry his unusually long-haired pelt atop the earth. He is near identical to his infamous sire in every way, made of that same fathomless black with eyes of reptilian green and yet, where Tobias remains that same midnight tone- Lonhro is coloured upon his tail alone, that darkened banner streaked with russet and white like flames unholy as it trails behind him. His fur is oddly long, wispy and silken to adorn the child in a look all his own. A beautiful creature to be sure, perhaps even surpassing the beauty that had once been Tobias’ in his youth. He is a large child, the boy, in time- destined to outsize his sire in every way, a throwback to his Demitri, to Bahamut and those whom came before him.
Yet for now he is merely ungainly, awkward in his youth yet swift still upon the earth as he comes like a darkened streak, determined to remain ahead of the shadow whom lingers somewhere behind. His goal is his den upon the other side of the field and the embrace of Mother whom rests within. He has learned well to be home before the night falls and He of Dark emerges to hunt, a lesson he has seen taught to others and one he does not wish afflicted upon himself. He knows Tobias is close as it is and as such seeks the embrace of his dam- for he is far too young to defend from the darkness whom seems to creep closer and closer still as fi the power of Mother is beginning to weaken perhaps. Though his mind does not understand that it is her drying milk and his own independence that surely results in such a thing, the milk scent, the scent of innocent youth beginning to fade from him and as such beginning to weaken the instinct to protect within the sire whom had unknowingly created him.
It is a flash of movement that sees the young male halt upon the earth, watching as the light and dark form of a female child his own age tears across the earth in pursuit of a hare that has long since escaped. Dark ears prick forward, attracted by the movement, that strangely coloured tail lifted upward as the young child springs suddenly forward and towards the digging youngster- his determination to return home momentarily forgotten and lost within his vast curiosity. He comes from behind, emerald eyes watching each paw scrabble at the earth, nostrils flaring to inhale the scent of the girl before the silent dark child moves to circle about Kairos once more, small paws carrying him now to the top of the rabbit hole, moving to stand above the other child now. He waits for Kairos to pause, to pick up on his scent and withdraw her head from the rabbit den- if only to shove his own suddenly within and peer into the darkness from his near upside down position. The hole however- is empty and long since so, features frowning as he withdraws his head once more to scowl at the girl now with a huff.
“Gone.”
He declares the word with clear disdain, huffing once more as he abruptly seats himself now, long, long tail curling about his paws as he does, head tilting slightly now as he seems to examine the girl for the first time now. Her scent is…familiar and yet not easily recognisable, dismissed from his mind in near the same moment as it arrives before he speaks again.
“Looooonhrrrrooooo.”
Whether she actually identifies this as his name- or perhaps just a strange sound, remains to be seen as he falls silent- watching her now, waiting for some reaction from her to assure she has understood his attempt at speaking, uncultured as it is- before he tries a final time.
“Are….you….lost?”
His words are fractured, broken, forced with clear difficulty from his throat before the snarl or another sees the boy suddenly cower, heckles lifting along his spine, tiny teeth bared briefly before he very near slinks to the earth to slide past Kairos and into the rabbit hole- made large enough by her digging to allow him in and out of sight of the creature he knows is coming.
“Hide….now.”
It is the last piece of advice he is seemingly content to offer, leaving the girl to do as she pleases the boy lacking any true potential to feel any emotion in regards to someone he has only just recently met. Tobias comes upon long, easy strides, the Asteraian King gliding smoothly atop his land and in search of the scent of the one he has identified as foreign, his spitting snarl surely caught upon the wind as he seeks Kairos. He knows not that this is his grandchild, understands little of blood ties. He simply smells that which is foreign and seeks to find it, his snarls echoing upon the wind as he comes- not yet having spied the children upon the plain though each paw step brings him closer and closer still to spying the girl not yet concealed.
