Taika’s furry flag continued to wave through the snowy air as she waited for her new friend to react. Pink tongue rolled out of her lips and panted excitedly, ready to play any game the other chose to bring her into. The girl’s innocence seeped from her in waves. Gold cracked eyes watched and giggled when her companion realized the snow at their paws was cold and jumped back to her feet. The laughter escaped the older girl’s muzzle when the tri-colored pup leapt at her. At last! Their games had begun!
Humor and playful growls mixed with each other as she did indeed flail in what she thought was play. It was not until Kairos’ fangs bit into her leg too hard that Taika yelped, pulled from her fun.
”Hey!” She growled. Older, currently a little bigger (though would inevitably be dwarfed by), and skilled from years of playing with big brothers she was able to escape from further attacks. Eyes narrowed, she swatted out her paw at Karios in the same fashion her mother had used to mildly discipline her. ”Have some manners! That hurt.”
Her discontentment did not last long once she got her friend’s name. In a heartbeat, she was back into her play bow, tail taking up its habitual swaying movement. ”And what are you, Karios? A warrior maiden? A goddess of the stars? Child of fairies? Pirate thief?” All these had been roles in stories her mother and caretakers had told her. The characters were as real to Taika as the wolf who stood before her. All were as dear to her as the friends she had lost.
