"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

old sins have long shadows

but tabari, as if it matters the way a man falls

Perhaps it was the fact that Yahir wasn’t at his side keeping the monsters at bay. Perhaps it was the winds that tugged at his mane as it came off the mountain, different and yet the same as the winds that had swept of the sandy plains of their homeland. Or maybe, maybe it had been the memory of Ysabellanazeka and Al Sarim speaking in a tongue, hated and yet as familiar to Tabari as breath. He spelt restlessly, and dreamed of ones he had once called sisters. They were hunting him down, for he had betrayed them by choosing a half-blood over all else. He could see them circling, their eyes gleaming in the dark…

A faint cry stirred the silence and the young black stallion jolted into a state of panicked awareness. He immediately looked for Yahir, convinced with every fibre of his being that his brother was in danger. With horror, he found no sign of his brother, and remembered with regret that he had left him alone, higher up the mountain. His heart hammered his chest as he turned and headed up the slope, his brother’s name on his lips. If anything happened to Yahir, Tabari would never forgive himself…

Yahir was pulled out of sleep slowly, and he blinked, startled to find a stranger nearby. Where was Tabari? He drew in a deep breath, shrugging the slight stiffness in his shoulders. Then he studied the exuberant filly with strange colouring, wondering who it was she was talking to. And then her words registered, and he shook his head, even as another figure appeared – black like Tabari, but built more heavily. Her words filled him with mild concern. They were mistaken. “No, I don’t want to take anything from anybody, I promise!” Yahir, ever a pacifist, was quick to reassure them. “We’re just here to visit a friend, me and my brother.” Again, he looked around, but Tabari was still nowhere in sight. “I don’t know where he is, though, have either of you seen --”

“Get away from him!” A snarl stopped Yahir short, and he turned in alarm to hear his brother charging up the dark mountain. The dark boy could only be seen when he was suddenly in the smaller filly’s face, snorting, teeth bared and ears pinned. “Leave my brother alone, I won’t let you or anyone else hurt him, kardeş!” He was beyond reasoning, driven by his deepest fears, and tangled up in nightmares that had invaded his waking hours.

when the fall is all that is left, yahir, it matters very much

(Sorry for the delay. And sorry it's short. I just want to get this rolling, yeah!)
