aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

~I hope you smile when you look down on me~

Their pawsteps were in sync as the ashen ess padded next to her mottled knight. The sun had finally passed over the mark of high noon, and the heat waves were starting to dissipate, though this had no cooling effect on the ashen fea’s core temperature. She felt like a walking fire ball. Her days excitement was finally starting to show. What miniscule muscle the girl had was starting to weaken, her bodice becoming heavier each passing minute. A clear reminder of her resent struggles and dark past. But with Kalgalath by her side, Sebring knew she could make it and would. Though he didn’t know it, Kalgalath was her reason for living, being with him made her want to be around. To see what came next.

Their walking pace was a slow amble, and Sebring appreciated that Kal offered her support each time she leaned into him. Her swaying body bumping occasionally into his solid figure. But the instant she spoke he froze, though her caressing touch was just as easily returned before he was able to move again. He caught her gaze and nodded ever so slightly. It was like he couldn’t comprehend what had just happened, but Sebring couldn’t say she fully understood what was going on… it was almost like she couldn’t help herself. Kal somehow already meant the world to her and she couldn’t stand to be without him. She fell apart, she slipped away without him holding her. He kept monsters at bay that had attacked her for years, with a simple rumble of laughter or gentle touch to soothe her trembling figure. Sebring couldn’t understand how he did this, but did he know what he was doing for her? Being engrossed in her thoughts Sebring jumped at Kalgalath’s voice, "Alright, Sebring, well at least that is a start. There are an innumerable amount of groves throughout the territory, but we can look around the top of the hill where mine is and see if there are any that suit your fancy.” Sebring nodded quietly, her breaths were becoming more prominent as her muscles strained to keep her up. “Be careful here, this is sometimes very slippery. I find that it helps if you stick to the stones - at least they won't give way beneath you." Sebring could only nod as she guided her paws down the stepping stones. Her golden portals solely focused on the rocks, if she fell now, then they’d both go down.

Sebring felt his fur tickle her nose, making her paused and raise her head. They were stopped at the river. The ashen ess pulled in a sharp breath. The depth of the water was unknown but assumed to be deep making Sebring second guess herself. “Kalgalath… I—“ Her lyrics faded quietly as she watched the water pass by and her King started to speak again. He seemed to be rambling again but it was Sebring’s distraction from the looming river flowing by her. His laughed quietly taking the care to make sure she made her way safely. But there was no hiding her panting and heabing sides. She was panicked again and her body was giving out more and more. Her limbs beginning to show visible trembles. “We are almost to the top, Sebring, I promise.” the girl just nodded her head silently and followed suit. Her pawsteps precisely placed. The ground leveled with a slight downgrade making it possible for the water to drain during storms.

Sebring realized she had fallen further behind Kalgalath than she or even he knew. His lyrics barely audible to her audits, "Mine is straight ahead a little while... let us search around for another shall we? The firs here will provide shelter against rain and snow, insulate against the cold, and the downhill angle prevents any precipitation buildup. In all, this is one of my favorite places in my terra... I think... I think you will like it up here too." A small whine escaped her partially opened maw. She wouldn’t make it much longer and with the relapse of her body came the relapse of her mind and memories. “Kalgalath, I—“ Sbering couldn’t finish her thought. Blackness swarmed her vision as she stumbled forward. Her paw catching a root and sending her face forwards into the ground. She landed with and audible thud and cry. She couldn’t go any farther, her body had given up and so was her mind. The blackness was filled with shadows that shifted. Slowly taking form. His blood red eyes staring into her gold pools, his cruel insult howling in her ears making her deaf to reality… “No, please! I didn’t do it… Stop, stop, please father! I didn’t kill her…” Her voice bled with pain and agony. Her body racked with tremors. Sebring’s ear flattened to her cranium, her eyes shut tightly and she cried. Tears fell down her cheeks, but she only knew the angry voice screaming and insulting her. Reality was all but lost to her.

"They’re only baby scars," She whispers.
