The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

He is the tallest of them and easily so, even now his legs are longer than any of his siblings, those silvery grey limbs carrying him easily along behind his black pelted brother, his own form just as dark along the top, though it lightens the closer it gets to his limbs and paws until it is near silvery in sheen as it reaches them- the boy dynamic in this. Beautiful teal eyes remain fixated ahead and upon his violet-eyed sibling, shortening his own stride so as not to surpass his brother and his shorter limbs as he does. He does not know where they are going and yet he had hardly seen fit to question his younger, heavier sibling in this, loping along easily behind him as they travelled further from Mother and Father and towards the darker caves of the grotto. Already the boy has begun to grow agitated though he tries so desperately not to show it, his mind rebelling against the…newness of this place. He dislikes to be outside his comfort zone, seems incapable of handling change so very well as his mind very near seemed to break down in response to it. It has become more manageable perhaps- as he ages and yet already one eye has begun to twitch rapidly in an action he cannot control despite his desire to stop it. His head turns away from his sibling now, just in case Zagen should turn back, hiding his twitching eye from his sibling’s sight. It…embarrasses him to an extent, more so because he cannot understand it, nor can he stop it. He has seen the looks his father offers him, understand that he is…imperfect to an extent and as such he does his best to hide such a weakness from the others within his family.

It is unfortunate perhaps that his condition so seems to be all his family (or some of them) are given to see of the boy, ignoring how well he has grown, how tall he is growing still and how powerful he will be in time- the curse it would seem that had so afflicted grandfather Tobias and Father Elijah before him, creatures of beautiful perfection, yet marked by conditions of the mind. For now though, he attempts to hide it once more, assuring his twitching eye cannot be seen by his sibling as they press onward, closer and closer to the caves and whatever it was Zagen had so seemed to want to show him. His muzzle extends forward, bumping against his brothers hip to gain his attention now, head tilted slightly in a look of curiosity- this he keeps his head turned to the side still.

“Where are we going, Zagan?”

He offers that look of curiosity once more, bright teal eyes meeting to violet of his siblings own before continuing to follow him again as they pressed onward still. It was….quiet up here, dark and as such Ilias finds himself growing only more nervous and unsettled. This is unfamiliar territory, unknown land and he is uncomfortable into it, his breathing beginning to increase all the same as he swallows and his eye continues to twitch- the boy desperately attempting to sooth himself, seeking to distract his mind with the view alone before Zagan finally comes to a stop and Ilias pauses beside his brother now, the towering, gangly young boy glancing around.

“Why are we here, Brother? I….don’t want to stay here I don’t like it….I am anxious here, please show me what you wanted and let’s go back to Mother.”

He is, at his core, a sweet child despite his insecurities- the boy a rather caring, gentle creature, though stubborn when he should choose to be, often content to disagree with Stella over when bedtime is needed or why he cannot have extra helpings of food. Elijah he ignores, for the most part, trailing along behind his sire when called to and yet for the most part he simply sought not to anger the towering, hulking male- bringing him closer to his mother more often than not and yet with his growing age and size, she too had begun to encourage independence within her children. In this moment however, Ilias finds he desires her embrace, the boy seeming to grow only more nervous. Instinct, after all, is a powerful thing and in this moment now the young male grows only more unseattled.
