Nakato
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky |
”It is the name the Monster choose for her healer. I’m not sure what a Frankenstein really is, but it is the rank I am most suited for and the one I am aiming to take.” she said, answering his question about her rank. For a moment, the druid found it odd that the child didn’t know the names of the ranks in the pack but as she thought more about it she realized that she didn’t know any of the others either. In fact, it was thanks to young Cuirass that she knew what the Orthos rank was. Nakato watched him scowl at her tail and she felt it stop wagging at once. It should be something she was used to but it still felt odd when wolves seemed to sneer at her deformity. But she put on a smile, like always, and answered the boy’s questions. After all, he was just a curious child. What harm could he do? ”I was born without a tail. It was hard growing up and learning that I have a harder time hunting that some other wolves. I can’t maneuver as easy as some since my tail isn’t there to help balance me. But it’s okay. I became a healer instead of a hunter.” She listened to him talk about his type of food and she is confused for a brief moment. Then, realization hits her when she pieces together the puzzle. The alpha had warned her about some of the wolves who lived on the plains. They ate other wolves. To some, it may be frightening but to Nakato it was just how things were done for some individuals. The grey girl with the dark grey mask had never tasted wolf flesh and she knew she never would. There were some who did but who was she to judge them? The world was cruel and she understood very well that it was survival of the fittest. The Monster had told her she was safe within Asteria and she believed her. Returning her gaze to Cuirass she smiled, ”Oh I see. You are a wolf eater. Well, you would be correct, I am not one to hunt our own kind but I do understand your distaste for bird meat.” He then mentioned that he had been following her and asked her what was so special about her. This took a moment for Nakato to think about. ”To be honest, I can’t say for sure why the alphas came for me. I don’t believe I am all that special, certainly no more than any other wolf. I think she came for me simply because she is a good leader. The Monster was just protecting a member of her pack. Nothing more, nothing less. Had I been killed, I am sure she would have just found another healer to take my place.” The wolfess didn’t appear to be fazed by her rather blunt statement. It didn’t bother her at all because she knew that’s how the world worked and she was nothing more than a wolf of the earth. ”So you have been following me, eh? I have to admit, you are quiet the talented pup. I never heard you once. It must be all that wolf hunting you’ve been doing, huh?” she asks nonchalantly. |
