PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

YOU LEFT ME IN THE DARK

IMPAZIENZA

Already, she missed snow. Winter had come and gone too fast, here one afternoon and then suddenly gone when Impazienza awoke the next morning. No snow remained on the Peak, even at the greatest heights of the mountain— she would know; she’d checked. There was nothing exciting about spring: the earth smelled wet and it rained too much and she hated picking through wildflowers while she ate.

Winter had recalled to her all the good memories she’d had as a foal, for once not reminding her of the frigid winds on Tinuvel but the piles of snow that lumped up against the trees of her childhood home and layered the groves with a smooth layer of white. It was desperation for another bit of pleasant nostalgia that drew Impazienza down the mountain, wondering if there was not some piece of shade cold enough to save the snow heaped in it.

Though the water running through the stream was still shockingly cold, the half-blind mare was not successful in her search for snow. It was far warmer down here where spring had fully flourished and was turning already toward summer. Impazienza gave up on finding any snow and followed the course of the water, ambling along contentedly. Her path brought her directly to another horse: a black filly, leggy and suffering from the unruly hair characteristic of all yearlings who seemed intent on something in the water.

The next thing Impazienza noticed was the cant of the girl’s ears.

Intrigued, the draft mare ambled further forward before halting a few feet away. She turned and dipped her head to drink from the cold water before lifting it, long whiskers dripping, to regard the girl with her single working eye. “Rough day?” she asked mildly.
