Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

DANCE WITH THE DEVIL TONIGHT
Winter was breathing down upon everyone’s neck, its chilling whispers promising wanton evenings and desperate females galore. A guy had to have some morals, though they were hard to live by when the overpowering scent of a female in estrus slaps you in the face.

I was meandering along the riverscape – my journey bringing me closer to my old home – without much thought as to why I was here in the first place. There was ample prey farther north where the plains did lye and yet here I was pacing the banks of the largest river in all of Moladion. Perhaps it was just fate. My path takes me further toward Iromar yet I spend it mostly in solitude. The sun is shining despite the biting cold that is being driven from the northern area of the realm. Soon, we should all expect a drop in temperatures and layers of snow coating the ground. I am not eager for it but I know that I am ready.

It is further down the landscape that an oddly familiar scent reaches my nose. It is not directly familiar to me, more so that the female waiting there carries with her the odor of a family member. It is laced heavily upon her body and strikes into my mind like tooth on bone. My red splattered eyes lock onto her as she crouches downward, her tail flagging into the air and her consciousness completely unaware of my approach. Yes, I know this scent. Carnifex.

A cousin long since scorned by myself for his haughty attitude and selfish actions when we were younger. I hated him and for all the ache he had caused me I will finally have my opportunity to return it back to him tenfold. Perhaps she is his mate or his imprint – I did not care – what mattered was the fact that it would hit him right where it should hurt the most. It was a gift from fate for certain.

I sauntered up to her and circled around slightly, my eyes roving over her for a moment before looking to her face. She was a pretty little thing yet I already detested her for being with such swine. ”Fine day for fishing, hm?” I start the conversation casually as I nod to the water. It was never my intention to jump right in and then leave when the fun ended, I needed to revel in this.
