The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Alana took half a step backwards as the other female rose to her feet. The other female was taller than she was, but was also quite lean, much like Alana herself. She was not likely a threat, although she couldn’t help but remain cautious. After all, it was once you let your guard down that you became truly vulnerable.

The way that Gaia spoke made it seem almost as though she understood what had happened to Alana all those years ago and the years between. She had been running so long now that she had quite forgotten what it was like to pause. For years now she has refused to stop and enjoy life, firm in the knowledge that doing so was too dangerous, especially on her own.

“There was someone here once that hurt me, years ago,” said Alana quietly, unable to hide the tension her body carried. It was hard to speak of him, even vaguely. No matter how far she ran, she could not escape those memories. “I think he is still here.”

And worse, winter was on its’ way. She would not fall prey to him again.

Her grey eyes met the other female’s two-toned ones as the other offered her aid. Alana was doubtful. What could two small females do against something like him? Still, she desired the protection of a pack. The protection of one other was still more than she’d had before. Speaking of protection, there was one individual that she was seeking.

“I am not much of a fighter either. I was supposed to learn once,” she could not help but let excitement flavor her voice slightly as she spoke of learning. She had wished greatly to learn to defend herself, but had never had the chance before she left. “I was going to be taught by Tesseract. He was the alpha of Glorall when I was last here. You don’t know of him, do you?”

Her eyes glanced past Gaia in the direction she had come from, back toward her former home. She missed the days of feeling safe there, in her den next to Tesseract and Caligula. Nothing smelled right there now. There was nothing to remind her of what had been her home, save the smell of the ocean.

“It’s changed so much,” she said, almost forgetting who she was speaking to. “I don’t think I can call it home anymore. My pack was Tesseract’s pack. I don’t even know who the alpha is now.”

Her eyes dart back to the cinnamon women before her. While she had been reminiscing, she had almost lost her fear, but it returned as she returned to the present.

“I’m sorry, I did not mean to bore you with the past.”
