Tick Tock did not see herself in a position to be admired by all. She never considered herself to be special. She knew what her birth pack believed her to be and she had accepted her terrible fate. That other wolves would see her in such a positive light seemed unbelievable to her. She assumed that the members of her pack saw her as a good leader, an effective leader, a leader that protected and cared for them. It didn’t matter to her what other wolves outside the fields thought of her. So long as she had the respect and obedience from those that called the fields home that was all that mattered to her. Though no one had expressed their thoughts on her. No one had come forth and told her what she was doing right and what she was doing wrong. None of her members came to her with their concerns and so Tick Tock acted as she would in what she thought was best for those that chose to live here with her.
As she laid upon her bed of furs her soul hummed and cried out, wishing to be close to her beloved counterpart. Though she needed to leave him, if only for a moment, to allow Nakato to do as she needed to do. Tobias would be okay without her at his side, and she would be okay not being near his, for this time. He would come to her soon, but there were things that needed to be done and whether he knew it or not – he was already doing it. Making his presence known to the others within the pack and to those that would look from outside the territory lines, that all was well. Hearing Nakato’s approach her dial would raise above her paws slowly, dark eyes ever so alert, kept a watchful gaze upon her. To hear that this unknown new member spoke truthful made Tick Tock feel much more at ease, pleased to hear that this particular wolf had value. As Nakato busied herself around her Tick Tock gently spoke to her Frankenstein about an idea she had.
“I was thinking the same thing, perhaps she can be your pupil?”
She assumed Nakato wouldn’t mind an apprentice. It also wouldn’t be a bad thing to have more than one healer within the grassy lowlands. Laying her ebony dial over her front paws she released a heavy sigh, finally starting to feel the aftershocks of her fight. She was indeed tired and anyone that was in her paws would have felt tired too. It was the sound of the loud gasp from Nakato that made Tick Tock think that perhaps this procedure would not be as quick as it was when Nakato helped Tobias. The cut underneath her eye and the bite from her scruff shouldn’t be that bad, but perhaps the damage she had put herself at risk with the hock might be the reason behind her healer’s gasp. Taking the poppies Nakato had given her she quietly ate them not really enjoying the taste, but swallowing it down anyways. One ear twitched as Nakato spoke taking note of the tone of sympathy she had. Knowing it wasn’t Nakato’s fault she prepared herself mentally as she felt the bob-tailed wolf take her right back paw in her mouth, and as she moved everything back to normal, a high pitch whine was released – the pain overwhelming as her head smacked down on her paws. Her mind in a daze at the sudden pain that flourished from her hock and up her spine, feeling the pain overwhelm her, but suddenly begin to dull thanks to the poppies.
While Nakato began to bandage her leg, the mind of the Monster was slowly starting to twitch. The pain had dulled her senses slightly. As Nakato approached her again to lay more seeds, she ate them quickly, hardly listening to her now. The affects from the poppies, the pain from her hock being reset and the seeds that would put her asleep, were making her slowly start to close her eyes as her mind began to go hazy. To close her eyes meant she would not be needed, she would be vulnerable. Her mind buzzed at her to stay awake that all would not be well if Tobias was not back at her side, if Flare was not within her lair with her children. But somewhere she knew the pack would be okay if she closed her eyes for a moment. Feeling the warm body of her healer lean and slip beside her own, her body began to relax quite content to be close to another. The sound of praise coming from Nakato caused a small burst within the Monster’s pride, proud to hear such things. However, Tick Tock was finding it hard to stay awake. Softly she speaks, her tempo in voice sounded lethargic as she took deep breaths, her heavy eyes starting to close.
“There will be no new generation, because no one has told me they are expecting in Spring. It would be nice to have families within the pack, those bonds help keep a strong bond. But Asteraia will continue being a safe place for all of us, I will see to it until I’m dead.”
