I love napping. It was a well known fact to my family and especially my brother. I was sweet tempered, everyone said so, but the moment someone woke me from a nap is the moment I would grow irritated and mean spirited. It only lasted long enough to blink the sleep from my eyes but it still happened and I tried to stop being like that but it was so hard. Sleep was a precious commodity. I slumbered now, perfectly happy to continue doing so, until my brother pushes me and I wheeze out a breath and roll over, letting out a growl as my bright blue eye peek out. "HEY!" I grouse, glaring at him until my eyes lift and my ears perk up. Well, my right ear perks as much as it can, the top have curved down and floppy.
My brother waits for me but the moment I stumble up he is racing away and I am left staring out of the den at him with a feeling if frustration. I wasn't ready to run just yet! Still, I pick up my little feet and race after him, catching up in time to hear him talking to the adults. He growls at that woman who acts like a kid and I am confused, my ears falling back as I look on with wide eyes. What was she doing? Thor was always more forward than me and he was teaching me to be brave. I would, one day, I think. I had saved him from the river before but I didn't tell anyone about that because mom would probably have a fit and I didn't want to scare her or daddy.
"It's a story, of course it will be exciting," I chirp in a soft voice, wagging my tail slightly and smiling sheepishly at everyone. Another boy arrives and I perk up, eyeing him until he swats at Taika and I sit abruptly on my hind end. No way was I joining that, I wasn't going to get in trouble if they weren't supposed to play with her. Instead I look at Sorcha and Tithe. "I am Samia, but you can call me Sam," I say softly, ears flicking back as the sound of another is heard and I turn to look at the older boy. He is handsome and I am immediately stupefied, staring at him in wide-eyed wonder before glancing at the young girl that trails him and then staring at the ground as I feel myself heat. I was just ready for the story to begin, this social atmosphere making me feel so strange!
