Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Not the dominate type, Gaia felt her tail tuck in-between her tail tuck between her legs when those piercing eyes finally fell on her. While she would have loved to gaze at them, she felt they were starting deep into her soul and it made her feel odd. But then she spoke, her voice strong and wise. The russet girl felt a pull within her very bones that urged her to follow the commands of the sunset wolfess. She moved to join her new companion and sat by her side. Their furs blended together as the smaller girl got comfortable, her copper fur practically glowing in the sunlight. Together, they watched the sun burn up the horizon as it made its nightly trip into the ground, only to rise again the following morning.

The wolf, who gave the name Phaedra, spoke and bi-colored eyes turned to her but never looked directly into her. Confused, Gaia cocked her head to the side as she thought of how to answer the question. Was there any evidence of her sorrow plain on her face? How had she known? Many souls? What did that mean? She felt pressure on her to answer so she tried her best to do so. “I… I recently discovered that my parents were murdered. I was not here when it happened and I guess I feel guilty. Maybe I could have helped them had I been here.” She sighed deeply, her voice shuddering as if she were about to start crying again.

For a moment, Gaia didn’t say anything else. She simply watched the sun slowly sink lower and lower into the earth. Then, she turned her head back to Phaedra and offered a weak smile. “What about you? What brings you here today to watch the sun set?” The older girl could smell no pack on the darker wolfess. She was alone, much like Gaia. Her heart reached out to her and she felt the smallest spark of a strong friendship beginning to ignite. Always one to make new friends, Gaia hoped the other would feel the same. As loners, they could find strength in others like themselves. Should they need help, they could always count on each other. But, the girl was getting ahead of herself. She returned her attention to sunset wolfess and smiled as she waited for her reply.
