She finds herself along the river once more.
It had been a while since she had been here – and for good reason. The last time she had visited here she’d gone head first into the frozen river when the ice gave way beneath her when she only tried to get a drink. Now, as she carefully picked her way down the river bank, there was no ice in sight. Spring was upon them and while small patches of snow remained in the shade the river had freed itself of winter’s deathly clutches. Now, as she lowers her head to the water, there is no chance of plunging through rotting ice to dunk her face.
Thank god.
She has still not found a place to call her own, though her fourth birthday had come and gone. She had made lots of friends over the past season though. She was content. Not happy yet, she wouldn’t be until she had found where she belonged, but content was good. With a pleased groan she drops to a sit and reaches up with a lean back leg to scratch luxuriously at an ear.
Ah, heaven.
With that urgent business completed she carefully stepped a few feet from the river (lest she fall in even without the treacherous ice, you know). Settling herself into a down, she sweeps her tail alongside her body. The spring sun is yet weak but she intends to soak up as much of it as she possibly can while lying on the grass that is just starting to turn to green.
She had forgotten just how cold winters could be when one has no pack to warm up with.
she's a natural disaster
