Taika was mildly taken aback by the blunt nature of the pup she had just rescued. A fuzzy eyebrow lifted at him calling her homeless, but a smile still played on her lips. Clearly this was not a little boy who viewed the world as most puppies did, how Taika herself usually tried. Logical and to the point, he seemed to be. “Not homeless.” She said simply. “I have more homes than most, and can go wherever I want. It gives me far more opportunities than being with any one pack.” She studied the puppy for a while, wondering if he would continue to question her lifestyle, or if the explanation she gave him was enough to satisfy him and lead him to his own conclusions about her choice of home. Though many could consider her odd, or ‘homeless’, she stood by her choices. It was not like her wayward paws left her much of a choice in the matter anyway.
The more the pup talked the more confused by him the gypsy became. It was not his words that confused her. Those were clear and straightforward. It was the manner in which the pup spoke. A few of the wolves she had met spoke with elevated words, strung together to create a persona different from those around them. But she had never heard such things coming from a young pup. The idea confused her. Looking at Rhett, she felt like saving this pup had gotten her in over her head. She loved puppies. This one stumped her. And startled her with his request. Of all the places to want to be taken, that was not one she would have expected. She had heard stories. Even if she had not, delivering a pup, who proclaimed to be the son of the Hand of the Queen of Spirane, to a different pack wasnot her idea of a wise choice. A soft chuckle came from her lips The pup was strange to be sure. But he was a charmer.
I’ll tell you what. A friend of mine and I will escort you to Asteraia. If you need to do this heart hijacking on your own, so be it. But we can wait on the border for you.” She studied Rhett with her crackled eyes, head tilted curiously to the side. ”Are wolves of Spirane able to know what you are up to in the plains?” There were two possible wolves she could think of who could stand by them while the pup went on his mission. Both wolves loyal and would step in if things went awry. She did not save this pup only to willfully put it at risk again.
